Director, Contracts Management Team

Fastly is looking for an experienced manager to lead its team of contracts professionals. The ideal candidate will have experience with the full agreement life cycle for sales, vendor and partner contracts and a successful track record of developing strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external parties. This position reports to the Assistant General Counsel leading our commercial vertical based out of New York. 

What You'll Do

  • Establish Contracts team’s ongoing objectives and priorities 
  • Lead Contract team policy setting
  • Delegate and assign Contracts function work to team members in an efficient and balanced manner 
  • Mentor all members of the Contracts team and promote growth and development on the team
  • Regularly analyze team performance against SLAs and the business's needs and make budget and headcount recommendations to meet the objectives of the business
  • Supervise daily execution of Contracts team functions against Fastly’s internal business practices
  • Strategically influence company policy and operations directly across our sales operations, deal desk, pricing and packaging functions and with executive leadership
  • Ability to engage in effective critical analysis of potential solutions to problems prior to executive escalation
  • In consultation with Legal Operations and Business Systems, establish system objectives and requirements for Contracts Team operational optimization, success and excellence
  • Effectively represent the Law team in cross-functional meetings and projects impacting the Contracts team function 
  • Own responsibility for maintaining best practice processes, playbooks and automation across all contract life cycles
  • Independently negotiate commercial contracts
  • Project manage Contracts team strategic initiatives 
  • Supervise trainings to multiple audience on Contracts team processes and workflows 
  • Juggle multiple projects simultaneously on a time-sensitive basis
  • Ad-hoc non-contracts legal department projects as may come up from time to time

What We're Looking For

  • BA from a respected institution
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience, including at least 3 years leading a contracts management team function
  • Ability to develop a deep understanding of Fastly processes and products 
  • Extensive experience with commercial contracting tools, including CRM software such as salesforce.com, and automated contract management and quoting solutions such as Docusign and Congo
  • Clear, effective and concise communicator, with strong oral and written communication skills,  able to present complex issues and make practical problem-solving recommendations for management to consider
  • Effective people management skills, including providing constructive feedback, holding team members accountable and driving operational excellence 
  • Strong time management skills in a fast-paced environment and ability to nimbly respond to shifting priorities 
  • Application of sound business acumen and good judgment
  • Must exercise discretion and ability to properly handle confidential and sensitive information

In accordance with applicable law, Fastly’s minimum base pay for this role if hired in Colorado is $150,000 per year. Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Fastly's equity plan. Final offer amount will be at the company’s sole discretion and determined by multiple factors, including years and depth of experience and expertise, location and other business considerations. Note that this role is available to candidates outside of Colorado and different minimum compensation may apply.
