Reporting to our Chief Compliance Officer, the Director of Compliance will enjoy an exciting and dynamic opportunity to enhance Bestow’s state-of-the-art compliance program.


Your high impact role will help formulate a world class compliance program for Bestow customers, employees, and contractors thereby fostering continued trust in the Bestow brand from customers, regulators, and employees alike.


We would like this person to be located in one of our office locations: Dallas, TX, Austin, TX or Des Moines, IA.

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Lead a team of compliance professionals.
  • Provide usable and actionable compliance advice to Operations, Customer Experience, and various business teams.
  • Provide a hands-on view into the design of the Bestow digital experience where you will be able to advise and work with Product, UX, and Engineering to build a seamless and friction-free digital experience to the Bestow customer.
  • Educate and help direct the review of state and federal regulatory compliance requirements to include analysis of business impact/operational risk assessment for enacted laws/regulations and recommended company compliance actions to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Advise on and anticipate strategic and tactical regulatory solutions by providing compliance subject matter expertise for project/process/product initiatives.
  • Identify and advise on compliance action plans that have regulatory impact on the company's business.
  • Direct the implementation of appropriate strategic/tactical solutions for compliance business requirements.
  • Enhance the Compliance Program and Compliance Policies thereby fostering continued regulatory and customer trust of Bestow.
  • Direct the monitoring and managing of regulatory requirements and reporting.
  • Provide oversight for compliance adherence through self-assessment programs and coordination of regulatory examinations.

ABOUT YOU

  • 12+ years of life insurance, legal and/or compliance industry experience.
  • 7+ years of leadership experience, including leading compliance personnel across various phases of operations, product, regulatory, and compliance programs.
  • Experience analyzing state and federal regulations and providing advice to business clients as to the possible impact.
  • Strategic experience developing and facilitating compliance program enhancements.
  • Proven experience influencing, collaborating, and briefing senior leadership.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, law, business, finance, or relevant experience required.

  • Master's degree in business, finance or another related field or a Juris Doctor (JD) preferred.
  • Previous experience with an insurance start-up desired.
