We’re looking for a Director of Communications, to lead how Torq builds trust among media, influencers, analysts, and buyers. You’ll be a key leader on our marketing team, and collaborate closely with our product team and executive leadership.
ResponsibilitiesGenerate top-level storylines and messaging themes that align with Torq’s product positioning and build market trust and brand awareness.
Identify key channels and conversations for Torq - and build / execute the necessary strategies to ensure Torq is a active participant in them
With Torq’s spokespeople, plan, create and edit written or video bylines for placement in media outlets and on partner-owned channels
With Torq’s People team - build a program to highlight Torq’s workplace culture and employee brand across media, awards, and other channels.
Create content for use across other marketing and communications channels
Scale a team of agency, vendor, and employees to ramp up the above functions as needed
Creating content for use in marketing, sales, or analyst efforts, and working with our content team to optimize the content for the intended channel and audience
Meeting with our founders, executives and other spokespeople to develop story ideas, collect feedback, and refine content efforts.
Meeting with journalists, influencers, and other industry professionals to establish Torq’s relationships and share Torq’s stories and POVs
Monitoring industry channels, competitive conversations, and other areas to identify opportunities for Torq to expand our visibility and presence.
When interviewing candidates, here are some of the things we’ll be looking for and asking about.
Experience in marketing communications roles at either (or ideally both) security or workflow automation companies.
Being opinionated on how marketing communications should be measured, and having experience with delivering results at high growth startups.
Clear communication style and ability to produce content in a variety of formats (written, audio, visual)
Experience in leading and scaling teams at high-growth companies - and strong opinions about what makes for sustainable growth vs. unsustainable growth.
