Position Summary:

The Customer Operations Specialist is the liaison between the New Business and Underwriting Team at Securian and Independent Distribution and the primary contact for Independent Distribution support. The position will provide proactive and interactive coordination of Individual Life new business cases from the point of submission to final issuance of the case. This position will also facilitate securing the placement of the business as quickly and as efficiently as possible to ensure that Securian is a partner of choice within the respective Independent Distribution partners.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Case Management - Proactively manages pending, active cases through the Life New Business issuance cycle. Coordinates via phone calls and emails with internal/external partners and vendors to secure timely and necessary information for underwriting and placement of cases.
  • Relationship Management - Provides excellent customer service and drives toward providing solutions to ensure Securian is a partner of choice for Independent Distribution channel clients.
  • Innovative Solutions - Identifies and collaborates on process improvements to enhance the customer experience.



Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Self-starter with the confidence and ability to take initiative and seek out assistance when necessary
  • Ability to confront problem situations and deliver difficult messages.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, collaboration, and communication skills to maintain positive relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Organizational and planning skills with a high degree of flexibility to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced, service-orientated environment.
  • Excellent presentation skills to provide clear, persuasive verbal or virtual presentations as needed with the Independent Distribution channels. Minimal travel to firms for these presentations.
  • Research, analytical, problem solving, and decision making skills to evaluate procedures and recommend changes.

Physical Job Requirements:

  • Ability to utilize keyboard, mouse and computer for up to 8 hours per day
  • Ability to work at least 40 hours per week
  • Ability to utilize telephone for 1-4 hours per day
  • Ability to perform grasping tasks (examples: handwriting, grasping of equipment/machines, paper manipulation, sorting, folding, handling stacks of paper)
