The Experience Design (XD) Team is responsible for the digital and physical design of new businesses, new products, and new services in emerging areas such as autonomous vehicles, mobility services, and commercial vehicle services. We are looking for creative individuals to join us and help further the vision and mission of D-Ford's XD team. What you'll be able to do:
The Group Technology Director will be responsible for providing leadership over technologists that bring to life new to early-stage products, services and experiences through iterative hardware and/or software prototypes of varying fidelity that often leverage emerging technologies.

  • Provide leadership over the creation of tangible experiences that demonstrate new products and experiences using technology at the appropriate level of fidelity.
  • Provide direct leadership to prove new concept technical feasibility and viability. Manage complexity stability in your team's high low fidelity prototypes, showcases exhibits.
  • Develop emerging technology strategies - Provide influence over the strategic uses of emerging technology, across all brands and all touch points.
  • Invent Solutions- Lead the team(s) in the invention of original and patentable technologies, and novel combinations and uses of technologies for our business.
  • Experiment- Lead the team(s) in the proactive and practical experimentation of novel technologies uses that have potential scalable guest, employee or business impact.
  • Manage relationships and projects with technical stakeholders, partners and vendors.
  • Be an active member of the XD team, contributing to every phase of the project through technical innovation, validation, and turning prototypes into reality.
  • Showcase the latest creative uses of technology to the wider company and introduce emerging technologies into the human-centered design process.

The minimum requirements we seek:

  • Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of experience in a creative technology or relevant senior engineering leadership role
  • 4+ years of experience leading teams/organizations in new product creation and development

Our preferred requirements:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Experience and familiarity with a range of prototyping tools and solutions.
  • Demonstrated portfolio of rapid prototyping, solution delivery and transition to production
  • Deep knowledge of digital technologies, ability to tinker with almost any hardware or software platform
  • Serious coding chops - platform/language agnostic
  • Experience working across engineering and design teams
  • Experience utilizing design thinking and/or human-centered design
  • Track record of building and running great digital services that creatively work with existing systems and business models to meet user needs
