Gopuff is seeking to hire a dynamic Corporate Affairs Specialist to support the advancement of Gopuff’s policy agenda at the state and local levels, through ongoing relationship building and advocacy across a multi-jurisdictional region in the Southwest U.S.


The Specialist position requires approximately 20% travel and is based in Austin, TX. The Specialist will report to the Government Affairs Principal. 

Responsibilities:

  • Legislative Advocacy:
  • Communicate company priorities to elected officials, regulatory officials and staff and work with communities of jurisdiction to proactively advance Gopuff priorities
  • Maintain and build a network of regulatory contacts at the state and local levels
  • Participate in key trade association and coalition partner policy committees, advocacy efforts and other programs to advocate on behalf of Gopuff’s regulatory priorities
  • Local and Regional Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Support Gopuff’s Zoning, Planning and Construction teams with getting sites to launch on schedule
  • Own outreach and develop relationships with local economic developers
  • Build coalitions with regional and local government and non-government stakeholders and educate them on Gopuff’s business and community impact
  • Legislative / Regulatory Management:
  • Support the Government Affairs Team in managing Gopuff’s legislative and regulatory agenda before the multiple jurisdictions across the U.S.
  • Track legislation and regulatory process and regularly update internal business partners as to impacts on positions and priorities
  • Political Operations:
  • Support the Corporate Affairs team’s political outreach efforts
  • Support the development of grassroots and grasstops strategies to further legislative priorities and stakeholder engagement
  • Support the administration, planning and execution of stakeholder events
  • Ability to travel overnight 20%.
  • Ability to attend evening and weekend events.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Writing skills with the ability to synthesize complex legislative and regulatory concepts into understandable and relatable terms
  • Negotiation skills aimed at bringing divergent opinions to the forefront to ensure understanding of all sides of an issue
  • Public Speaking skills - must be able to make remarks at formal events and make keynote presentations, lead communications with and among key officials in a manner strategically directed toward achieving desired outcomes and bring together diverse stakeholders in a productive manner around priority issues
  • Analytical skills - ability to detect, assess and seamlessly respond to challenging and potentially awkward situations in high profile settings
  • Interpersonal skills - ability to build and maintain positive and productive working relationships with and among key stakeholders including elected and appointed officials of which some may hold an unfavorable view of the company or its priorities
  • Influence and Strategy - ability to read an audience or group to understand risks and opportunities.
  • Ability to negotiate and steer conversations to make all involved parties feel understood and respected while still pursuing key issues. 

Experience:

  • 5+ years' relevant public policy and government affairs experience, including at least several years working as legislative staff, or as agency staff;
  • Possess an extensive network, in the capitol building, at key agencies, with trade associations, and at various advocacy groups;
  • Possess a strong understanding of the mechanics of policymaking; and
  • Comfortable working in a flexible, yet challenging environment and love collaborating across teams and pitching in.
