Description
As an L5 Integrated Control System Team Lead, you will lead cross functional teams to define, design, develop and support integrated control systems that provide market leading customer value for Caterpillar machines. Integration of multiple complex systems will optimize efficiency, create power system controls and operator assist features to enhance operator productivity and protect the machine resulting in increased customer value. These integrated control systems are being leveraged across multiple machine product lines. A key skill for this position is the ability to understand complex systems and their interactions. You will contribute to the planning and delivery of projects, continually learn and stay abreast of innovative technologies and broaden your professional network.
Job Duties
Providing program leadership for the design & development of integrated power systems for Caterpillar machine products that deliver improved Owning cost and Operating experience.
Applying Caterpillar’s New Production Introduction (NPI) and New Technology Introduction (NTI) Processes to develop integrated control systems that meet or exceed machine product requirements.
Working with machine and component groups to define system requirements and specifications that meet the machine requirements and drive system commonality across product lines.
Coordinate and maintain machine performance analysis appropriate for NPI programs and NTI investigations.
Develop and maintain MGPP for L5 powertrain system and controls for the product line.
Working with machine and engine electronics groups to design, integrate, and test L5 software features.
Determining and directing appropriate validation including simulation, software testing, Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL), Software in the Loop (SIL), lab, machine testbed, prototype and pilot machines.
Control systems development for L5 Powertrain Controls, L5 powertrain integration and operator assist features.
Performance evaluation including testing on-machine, HIL (hardware in the loop), and/or simulation
Utilize available data and analysis tools to develop deep understanding of machine usage and customer applications and variation.
Analysis of machine data from PPG, TPG, and customer sites to ensure proper function and validation of new content
Communicate with customers, process partners, and team members
Communicating goals, direction, and budget needs to key stakeholders.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in an accredited Engineering or Computer Science curriculum
5 years of control software development or validation experience
2 years of team lead experience
Top Candidates will also have
Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Ag Engineering with focus on control systems or mechatronics
Master’s degree in an accredited Engineering curriculum
Experience in systems development
Understanding of machine controls
Ability to work with a high paced team
Excellent communication skills
Emphasis on initiative and self-starting tasks
Knowledge of NPI development processes
Machine application knowledge

The location for this position is Mossville, IL
Domestic relocation assistance available for this position.
This position may require up to 10% travel
