The Community Outreach Coordinator position presents an extraordinary opportunity to develop and manage community focused programs in a dynamic organization poised for continued expansion of services to the community. Reporting to the Program Director, the Community Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for developing community centric programs-- managing, monitoring and evaluating the various components of the Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative to support Habitat Omaha's vision of deepening its community impact.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES:

When engaging in community development, Habitat Omaha's work must be contextualized to the local community through community development practices and the following responsibilities:
• Plans and executes strategies to significantly increase relationships and stakeholder involvement;
• Builds and maintains strategic alliances and strong working partnerships with community based organizations, community action groups and local government departments;
• Identifies, cultivates, solicits and participates in strategy development and stewardship of selected

organizations working within focus neighborhoods;
• Manages, monitors and evaluates the various components of the Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative;
• Unites and partners with community stakeholders in their revitalization efforts;
• Leads the Habitat Homeowners Association (HOA), modeling behaviors and actions of a successful HOA including Association format, funding, leadership and project results;
• Participates in the community development planning processes from an assets based approach;
• Leads post-close efforts as they relate to home maintenance, and quality assurance, and develops and leads community education around the same;
• Leads community advocacy and outreach for home repair;
• Assists in efforts with Wills and Estate Planning for Habitat Homeowners
• Identifies and sources real estate acquisition opportunities through neighborhood networking and real estate research, including property identification and referrals;
• Serves as an articulate, enthusiastic and visible spokesperson for the organization;
• Makes all determinations or decisions concerning Habitat Omaha's participation as a stakeholder or a convener in any neighborhood we are working in;
• Leads communication efforts and collaborations between HHO and outside organizations when partnering for neighborhood revitalization efforts;
• Creates, sustains strong working partnerships and strategies with other members of the Habitat team and contributes to Habitat Omaha's culture of teamwork and cross-department collaboration;
• Manages internal and external expectations as they relate to neighborhood revitalization being a component of every staff member's role at Habitat Omaha
• Stay connected with Habitat International and participate in training calls and workshops or webinars as needed;
• Strategically attends neighborhood association and community meetings;
• Recruits community champions, by engaging volunteers and local advocates for Habitat's work;
• Develops neighborhood revitalization interns, practicum students or specialized volunteers to assist with post-close events, dedication events, and other duties as needed;
• Responsible for communication with neighbors ahead of Habitat Omaha's involvement whether due to a demolition, rehabilitation, renovation, event or other reasons.

SUPERVISORY DUTIES:
• Interns and Volunteers as appropriate

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
• A minimum of 3 years' experience in community development, including experience in housing or real estate development;
• Bachelor's Degree in urban affairs, urban planning , social work, , sociology, related field or equivalent work history;
• Some construction knowledge preferred
• Commitment to serving families with low-incomes and advancing the critical call for

affordable ownership housing;
• Proven success in researching and developing innovative, effective relationships with community based organizations;
• Excellent organizational skills with a high attention to detail;
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with specific attend on relationship building;
• Ability to use advanced word processing and spreadsheet software;
• Experience leading groups of volunteers;
• In-depth understanding of gathering and reporting on quantitative and qualitative research;
• Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively;
• Demonstrated leadership skills to engage others in goal setting and meeting objectives.
• Weekend and evening work required;
• Ability to work independently with little supervision while maintaining timely communication with management and stakeholders.
• Local knowledge of the Greater Omaha community development organizations/departments.
• Humble, teachable and a good listener.
