who we are
Flytedesk powers media and advertising on college campuses. We build the technology that college media organizations and universities use to manage their operations. We build the technology that small businesses use to reach students. We work with brands, campaigns, and causes as their college partner in understanding, reaching, and driving outcomes with students.
We have a presence at almost every college in the country and the ability to reach 20 million students through campus billboards, student influencers, campus email newsletters, college newspapers, digital ads, SMS, and more.
We started flytedesk as the tool we needed at our college newspapers and have grown to become the single largest funding source for student journalism. Brick by brick, we're creating a sustainable business model for college media by providing a coveted service to advertisers. We're mission-driven, profitable, and unrelenting in pushing our business and customers forward.
who you are
This is a very straightforward role, with endless opportunities for exploration and expansion to make it your own. We currently have a handful of $1m+ clients, loosely grouped in an EdTech vertical. Your job is to grow client spend by making our partners the smartest, best prepared, most ludicrously supported college marketers that ever walked the face of the earth.
This is likely not your first rodeo with Fortune 500 brands and your only mode is the precision, excellence, and foresight necessary when playing at this level. You understand what we mean when we say we're aiming for top-tier agency service, without the agency red-tape. Perhaps this has been a detriment to you in the past, but you are not capable of transactionalism - your clients are often friends and confidants as much as they are... well, clients.
responsibilities
Achieve client goals. This comes first, you'll be responsible for understanding and directing client goals and KPIs and then making sure they are hit above expectations every time. Our golden rule of account management is, "care more about your client's goals than they do", which is a high bar but the one we hold ourselves to. You won't do it alone, your teammate in all of this will be our CEO Alex... who is both very good at this and thinks he is very funny.
College partner . As our clients' "college partner", when anything "college" comes up in their organization, we expect them to give us a call, whether there is media budget attached to it or not. We continuously invest in being a better strategic partner... building products, processes, and ideas that move the needle.
"The Weeds." This is a startup and a small team. Even the most senior members play in the weeds to get things done. You can't hesitate to get down and dirty. You'll be best friends with ops, research, product, supply... all the other functions that, at the end of the day, also serve client goals.
skills
Must haves:
  • Experience with big brands, either client-side, agency-side, at a platform, or adtech company
  • Able to lead and execute a client engagement strategy
  • Able to manage multiple clients with individual goals
  • Embody "how we do anything is how we do everything", no details are too small to make great
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Creativity!
  • Comfortable in Excel/Google Sheets and PowerPoint/Slides

Nice to haves:
  • Experience managing multi-channel (digital and physical) media campaigns
  • Student media experience is a plus!

You will work closely with our co-founders Alex and Piper, as well as laterally across the organization with our ops and supply team.
You will report to Alex Kronman, our CEO.

  • Total compensation package is a combination of salary, equity, and significant bonus comp, commensurate with experience.
  • This is a full-time position
  • The Flytedesk office is remote. We expect employees to work in a continental US time zone.
