What you will be doing

As the Chief Technology Officer, you will lead the technology strategy and development as an experienced, collaborative, and hands-on member of the Executive Team. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will lead the Product Engineering, Security, Quality Assurance, Reliability, and Technical Operations teams. You will oversee the development and design of technical systems and architecture, the foundation of Eden Health’s mission to create a world where every patient has a relationship with a trusted healthcare provider. You will collaborate closely with Product Management, Product Design, and other stakeholders to improve our software development cycle and ensure that milestones and timelines are met consistently and predictably. As CTO, you will drive the development of innovative software that patients love and have never experienced in healthcare before.

As a member of the technology team at Eden Health, you will meet directly with your stakeholders and users, and work with designers, product managers, and other engineers, to find solutions and features to make Eden Health a better place to be a patient or a clinician. What success looks like

  • Work with the executive team to define and lead the technology vision and strategy for the company
  • Ensure alignment between the company vision/strategy and product/service offerings
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of technical architecture and technical systems in support of the company’s goals and strategic objectives
  • Promote engineering excellence and best practices across teams, foster an environment of innovation, establish a high frame of reference, and fight mediocrity
  • Refine the company’s software development process, in concert with product management, product design, and other stakeholders, to improve software quality, and development velocity
  • Routinely engage with Director, VP, C-level executives and governing boards for large customers, as well as their consulting partners
  • Ensure that regulatory, contractual, and strategic standards are met regarding privacy and security 
  • Oversee the development and integration of high-performing quality assurance and reliability tools, teams, and processes
  • Ensure systems and system components have best-practice, appropriate, and robust monitoring and analytics in place
  • Lead a world-class hiring process to recruit excellent technical talent at both individual contributor and manager levels
  • Hire, develop, and mentor excellent engineering managers 
  • Provide executive level management of security best practices and regulatory requirements
  • Be current on new industry trends, technologies, and software development
  • Manage Eden Health’s Director of Security and ensure the company’s technical processes and services comply with all requirements, laws, and regulations and the timely initiation and completion of security and compliance audits or other regulatory requirements
  • Develop and implement a budget for growing our technology functions and improving or maintaining infrastructure systems

What you will bring

  • Ability to set and communicate an exciting, compelling, and ambitious technology vision
  • Experience building and leading world-class technology development teams and processes across geographies
  • Proven ability to attract, hire, manage, and mentor excellent technical talent, especially for niche roles
  • Ability to skillfully manage, develop, motivate, inspire and direct others to meet ambitious goals or deadlines within a fast-paced and dynamic, entrepreneurial environment
  • Deep understanding of interconnected systems and the cost, performance, and strategic implications of making particular architecture choices
  • Experience leading and implementing security and compliance programs in one or more regulated industries, such as healthcare or finance
  • Excellent leadership, team building, and management skills
  • Proven ability to interact and communicate with both internal and external senior C-level executives
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to give presentations to a wide spectrum of audiences, both internally and externally
  • Highly collaborative approach with a team-first orientation; flexible in personal interactions at all levels of the company
  • Creative, strategic and thoughtful “hands-on” leader with “can-do” leadership approach.
  • Results and goal-oriented with the ability to demonstrate excellent judgment, solution orientation, and appropriate level of risk-taking
  • Exceptionally strong leadership profile with executive presence and passion for the mission
  • Experience architecting, managing and configuring infrastructure in a cloud-based environment
  • 10-15 years in software development - 7+ years in a technical leadership role developing commercial software applications
  • Experience in a fast-paced, startup (or startup-like) environment and experience
  • Experience leading DevOps, Continuous Development, Continuous Deployment, Continuous Integration and Quality Assurance programs
  • Strong experience in managing resources (employees, vendors, equipment, dollars, and time) in compliance with approved budgets and in balancing relative project priorities and accountabilities of direct reports
  • Proven track record in setting, monitoring, and exceeding software development velocity goals and/or deadlines
