Viasat is seeking a high energy, independent and motivated individual to serve as Chief of Operations of the Global Technology (GT) organization. In this role you'll partner closely with the CIO and their leadership team on the execution of the Global Technology agenda by optimizing the various processes in effect today. You will ensure focus, alignment, and progress on key initiatives that support Viasat's technology strategy and work to make GT more efficient and impactful. You will act as the trusted partner to the CIO and be the agent for change.

Job Responsibilities

  • Help the CIO implement their strategic mission
  • Responsible for financial planning within GT
  • Review and optimize existing processes within GT with the goal of growing velocity and reducing friction, with focus on procurement and hiring
  • Define and implement an internal communications strategy
  • Lead OKR definition and communication across Global Technology
  • Put in place and implement measurements that track GT progress on efficiency metrics, including DevOps, productivity per FTE and compare to industry benchmarks
  • Coordinate GT's relationships with its partners
  • Propose and implement a long-term staffing strategy for the organization that is global, and balances fixed and variable costs
  • Prepare and present quarterly metrics to help drive accountability and track impact across the organization
  • Develop a measure of how well GT supports company objectives
  • Partner with P&C, act as a sounding board to record pulse of employees


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant technical area.
  • Proven track record managing multiple simultaneous projects - ensuring accountability and results
  • The ability to influence the senior-most partners in the company
  • Capable and confident communicator who is comfortable debating and defending her/his ideas
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with the ability to judge situations accurately and quickly, grasping complexities, identifying key issues and applying good judgment
  • Quantitative skills and experience crafting compelling business presentations
  • Ability to quickly and effectively build credibility and positive relationships at all levels
  • Agile and resourceful learner who can come up to speed very quickly on new topics
  • A high tolerance for ambiguity and the ability to navigate complexity
  • A "big-picture" thinker with the ability to stand above the day-to-day deliverables when required and contribute meaningfully to strategic discussions while also remaining attuned to the details required for successful execution


If the Federal Executive Order for Government Contractors becomes effective, this role may require vaccination. In such instance, absent an approved accommodation based on a religious or medical reason, employees in this role will be required to be fully vaccinated no later than applicable deadlines, which are unknown at this point. Viasat will strive to give individuals as much notice as practicable if a vaccine mandate becomes applicable to this role.
