PURPOSE
This position is responsible for assisting the Senior Buyer in the co-development and execution of category plans and product strategies as well as overall day-to-day management of the department.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist Buyer in developing category plans based upon strategic plan and help to ensure execution of the product strategies in alignment with the strategic plan
  • Assist Buyer with specific category planning, buying, analysis, advertisement, inventory management, promotion and plan-o-grams
  • May be responsible for specific buying responsibilities (regionally and/or nationwide)
  • Responsible for category-specific training materials development and new product communication
  • Responsible for specific vendor and purchase order management
  • Manage store support activities
  • Responsible for developing display strategy and communication based on categories and strategies as directed by the Buyer
  • Execute new vendor and SKU set-ups at the direction of the Buyer
  • Follow up on grand opening related category activities (e.g., purchase order management, planograms)
  • Responsible for tracking competition, SKU advertisement proof and execution, credit memo follow-up from vendors, and web data integrity



MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration preferred (relevant experience can be substituted for the required education on the basis of one calendar year of experience for one academic year of education)
  • Two years of merchandising experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job, as determined by the company
  • General knowledge of merchandising and inventory management experience
  • Intermediate to advance level Microsoft Office Suite skills (specifically Excel)
  • Must be analytical, detail oriented and highly organized
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written)
  • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment



WORKING CONDITIONS (TRAVEL, HOURS, ENVIRONMENT)

  • Limited travel required by air and car travel
  • The noise level in this work environment is typically quiet to moderate.



PHYSICAL/SENSORY REQUIREMENTS
Sedentary Work - Ability to exert 10 - 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
