Category Manager - Furniture, Lighting, & Rugs

We are looking for a Category Manager of Furniture, Lighting, & Rugs to join our Home & Garden team at eBay. You will be a key leader on the Home & Garden team at eBay North America. If you are driven to win, have an ownership attitude, are able to build meaningful cross-functional relationships, and are ready to make an exciting move, we would love to hear from you! The Opportunity

The role is to help define the Furniture, Lighting, & Rugs category strategy and implement through working with strategically important sellers, buyers, industry experts, and brands to ensure that eBay has the inventory and end-to-end experience to grow the business. As a Manager of Verticals, you will be accountable for the success of your categories.
Key responsibilities:

  • Drive category strategy to grow GMV, Conversion Rate, ASP/AOV, and Buyer & Seller Satisfaction leveraging existing strategy work to build out a day-to-day go to market plan
  • Responsible for building an assortment plan optimizing against pricing, promotions, selection goals, while improving discoverability and searchability through merchandising and marketing to optimize GMV and Buyer Satisfaction, and monitoring competitors
  • Recruitment of necessary vendors/sellers to establish trust in the market, while building-out assortment strategy, and oversee performance and business planning for top sellers, buyers, and 3rd party partners including new seller launch plans for velocity growth
  • Lead vertical, horizontal, cultural, and brand strategy execution as it relates to the Furniture categories and our customers working cross-functionally with product, marketing, deals, pricing, and seller teams within eBay
  • Responsible for leading communications across eBay regions including CA, UK, DE, and AUS for the furniture category to stay in synch and up to date on their latest initiatives
  • Partner with the product team in building out necessary seller and buyer experience enhancements, including business case development, and executional tactics. Lead platform feature ideation and adoption necessary for developing the best on-site experience
  • Drive eBay onsite and offsite marketing and key event planning with cross functional teams, including important industry and retail moments, reflecting this into creative briefs, and development of marketing channel build-out necessary to drive converting traffic
  • Deliver strategies, reporting, and results weekly to the Category GM, while delivering monthly executive read-outs and presentation updates

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience with increasing responsibility as a business owner in an online retail or marketplace environment. Merchandising or Startup experience valued.
  • Experienced at negotiating with third parties in complex negotiations
  • Deep insight into the digital and furniture industry
  • Ability to lead groups of individuals effectively and mange cross-functional coordination in a collaborative and team-driven environment
  • Experience influencing & negotiating with both internal external partners
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred or equivalent work experience
  • Strong project management and problem-solving skills
  • Executive-level presentation and communication skills
  • Can communicate effectively in large or small group settings
  • Experience in Furniture and/or relationships with key industry players preferred.
