The Business Unit Chief Technology Officer (CTO) is a key leadership position whose role will lead the engineering, infrastructure, and technology operations teams as they deliver best-in-class consumer applications and a highly available infrastructure. The CTO will lead all technology related initiatives for an industry leading payment platform experiencing exponential growth and will have reporting responsibilities to the both the business and technology leadership. T he ideal candidate will have proven experience leading FinTech engineering and infrastructure teams and experience delivering secure, highly scalable, highly available, industry leading, FinTech platforms. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Define and implement the company's core technology roadmap and technology innovation strategy to enable the exponential growth of an industry-leading FinTech platform
  • Lead teams of on-shore and off-shore software engineers to deliver best-in-class consumer-centric FinTech applications and payment platforms
  • Lead teams of engineers to support and enhance a highly available and highly scalable payment processing system
  • Recruit and retain talented and highly productive teams through coaching, vision, leadership, and direction
  • Partner across the organization to execute complex strategies, requiring participation from multiple delivery teams
  • Stay up-to-date and knowledgeable on industry trends and emerging technologies in anticipation of new processes and system alterations
  • Serve as the central point for technology innovation and determine technologies in which to invest and procure
  • Oversee cyber security program to ensure all applications and systems adhere to all compliance standards and follow industry security standards
  • Advocate and communicate technology capabilities internally and externally
  • Challenge and inspire peers across the organization to innovate, automate, and lead change

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering or product management
  • 5+ years of team management experience leading highly productive technical teams
  • 5+ years of experience within financial services (with experience in payment, loyalty or FinTech platforms)
  • Proven experience implementing highly scalable, complex payment systems
  • Experience with financial forecasting and planning, including infrastructure cost management
  • Proven understanding of public cloud, elastic compute and workload placement strategies
  • Demonstrated knowledge of advanced software engineering and architectural principles
  • Proven understanding of platform and product engineering concepts and frameworks
  • Experience with DevOps, SRE, and Testing Automation
  • Experience working in regulated environments including but not limited to: PCI, HIPAA, SOC compliance and HITRUST; implementing risk management frameworks and mitigating controls
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders and product teams to deliver business and technical outcomes
  • Proven understanding of unified communication services, storage and backup services, desktop services, print services, etc.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Vendor Management
  • Demonstrated knowledge of system tracking, analysis, and reporting


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of ITIL, Service Management and Service Desk

Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada or New York City Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $174,600 to $332,200. The salary range for Connecticut/Nevada/NYC residents is $174,600 to $332,200. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
