Business Relationship Director, Leader - Nationwide Summary:

The Business Relationship Director, Leader is responsible for ensuring the success of assigned projects and communicating with business leaders and/or executive sponsors about their progress. This role will partner closely with business partners to understand their long-term plans and assess how they integrate into the overall roadmap.

  • Partner with the Solutions Lead to ensure overall IT strategic direction and health of the portfolio, partner with the program/portfolio manager on the health of the within their portfolio and partner with Platform Director to ensure platforms within their portfolios are healthy and well-managed.
  • Serve as the IT liaison for Executive and Business Sponsor. Communicating IT services, providing insight into IT initiatives across the organization and how they relate to items on business's roadmap and provide education regarding IT processes, roles, and capabilities
  • Partner with business and IT leadership to plan new initiatives and determine how they fit into business capability and IT roadmaps and priorities and then integrate business partners' long-range plans into business capability roadmaps and priorities, as appropriate.
  • Provide consistent and effective communication to business and Solutions Senior Director on health of portfolio
  • Inform business and executive sponsors in understanding all planned, active and completed work within their portfolio
  • Partner with enterprise architecture and Platform Director to develop and maintain multi-year business capability roadmaps
  • Provides direction to the Business Relationship Directors across all Business Solution stacks and the Technology Solutions stack
  • Ensure that standards, processes, and best practices for Portfolio Leaders are up -to-date and being followed across Portfolio Leader discipline.
  • Ensure that standards and best practices for BRDs are up-to-date and being followed across the entire BRD discipline
  • Provide regular communication to IT stakeholders on business's strategic goals and how they correlate back to business value and business and IT priorities
  • Serve as Career Advisor for BRDs, mentoring and coaching as a part of their career growth
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor's degree in IT or related field

  • Ability and comfort with working at executive levels
  • Understand and integrate business strategies and trends in technology to deliver value
  • Be able to influence others, using personal rather than positional power
  • Strong communication skills in writing, speaking, and presenting
  • Ability to focus on business value results, rather than solutions
  • Highly skilled and experienced at negotiating conflict and problem solving to achieve win-win outcomes at executive levels
  • Must have and maintain credibility with the business community

  • 10+ years of IT portfolio and/or program project management
  • 5 years of progressive leadership experience
  • 5+ years of career advisor experience

  • Ability to coach and mentor individuals
  • Ability to lead and drive a strategic driven team
  • Ability to create, implement and drive process and procedural standards across own discipline and other areas
  • Ability to lead by example, mentoring, and motivating others in the BRM team and all around you
  • Ability to listen, build rapport and credibility as a strategic partner vertically within the business unit, along with all other levels of the organization
  • Ability to facilitate discussions around developing and implementing strategic objectives
  • Ability to map joint organizational vision and long-term thinking, imagination, and idea generation
  • Exceptional ability to lead change using positive and collaborative methods
  • Ability to influence and break down silos within an organization as well across organizations
