Summary:
Operate state of the art high speed saddle stitch binders. Maintain daily production logs. Setup and makeready of saddle stitcher. Load preprinted roll stock, select binder setup up from bind queue, confirm automated set up is correct, release jobs, perform quality checks which include correct pagination, final trim, and other items noted on job instructions. Monitor quality of job output. Constant material handling of finished product including placing books in cartons and power packs.
$3,000 Sign-on Bonus
Successful Candidate will be required to present acceptable proof that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before working onsite at DFIN.
Schedule:
3rd shift works: 7pm - 7am.
Front half of the week works Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. Back half of the week works Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. You then rotate front-to-back (and back-to-front) every 5 weeks.
Overtime required as/when needed.
Responsibilities:
Thorough knowledge of the setup, adjustment, procedures, capabilities, and limitations of equipment to perform the full range of standard and specialized binding, folding, collating, and cutting of printed materials to complete a finished product. Comprehensive knowledge of machinability of different paper weights, sizes, types, and colors to be able to identify paper conditions. Thorough knowledge of limitations and capabilities of all machines used to accomplish unusual set ups or machine combinations to produce unique or one of a kind printed material. Skill in operating complicated bindery equipment such as folders, cutters, collators, stitchers, drills, binding/gluing machines is a plus. Ability to read and interpret written work which indicates the number and sequence of machine operations required to complete the work and maintain dimensional accuracy in accordance with instructions provided. Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate with all factors in verbal and written manners.

Medium Work Job requires ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Occasionally (1/3 of time)
Ability to frequently lift 5# - 10# stacks of saddle stitched books throughout the entire shift. Frequently (2/3 of time)
Qualifications:
Ability to deal with problems involving multiple variables in or from standardized situations.
Able to uses arithmetic to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percentages.
Able to follow work instructions and recognize most words used in daily work processes. Able to read instructions for assembling equipment.
