Overview:

Performs clinical duties under supervision of audiologist in order to complete/fulfill requirements necessary to obtain AuD degree. Externship is typically a one-year commitment, however can be scheduled as deemed appropriate by the Audiology department. Direct patient care requiring Audiology licensure cannot be performed independently, but under supervision of audiologist.

Other tasks that can be performed independently by the Audiology extern include administrative functions and overseeing hearing screening operations. Independently provides hearing screening evaluation of newborn infants and obtains appropriate case history information.

Works with Medical Center personnel to provide customer service excellence in testing, communication and personal interactions with families, coworkers and other Medical Center professionals. Performs duties in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy standards.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor's degree, and current enrollment in accredited Doctor of Audiology (AuD) program.
