Our Opportunity:

Chewy is seeking an Associate Director, Risk Management and Insurance to join the pack in Dania Beach, FL. This position will support the Director of Risk Management in the organization and structure of company-wide programs to fund/finance/transfer risk and drive the ongoing development, implementation, and administration of corporate risk management strategies that impact Total Cost of Risk and deliver best in class risk management solutions.

This position will assist the Director in global insurance program design, execution and performance including all risk and insurance analysis, reporting, compliance, program management, and operational support.  

What You’ll Do:

  • Assist in managing the corporate insurance programs, including RFP process, budgeting, identification/ assessment of risk, collection of data, preparation of underwriting submissions, evaluation of various insurance coverage options/terms/conditions, review of policies, and all ongoing coverage maintenance.
  • Partner with key stakeholders across the business to collect and compile exposure and business information necessary for underwriting, compliance, and actuarial purposes, and aggregate/present information into a framework that best reflects the risk profile. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand corporate risk exposure and support long term business objectives by identifying areas of risk/opportunity and recommend solutions to drive improved process, performance, and cost reductions.
  • Align effectively with business units to educate on insurance coverages to inform decision making and ensure timely notification of potential claims.
  • Provide technical subject matter expertise in risk and insurance matters involving third party contracts, loan covenants, and other business ventures and special projects across the organization.  
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, new products, best practices, and challenges to proactively make value when making recommendations to leadership. 
  • Develop/maintain department financial and analytical responsibilities that drives strategic decision making, including TCOR (total cost of risk) modeling, forecasting, dashboards, development of KPI’s, expense and reserve analysis, etc.  
  • Manage risk administration programs, including surety bond program, certificates of insurance, contract reviews, letters of credit, state self-insurance programs, provincial workers’ comp programs, and other compliance requirements; identify and implement ongoing process enhancements.
  • Lead and oversee database administration, system support, and data validation for department systems (Risk Management Information System RMIS, etc.) and lead efforts to leverage the systems to drive value and create efficiencies.
  • Assist Director with management of risk & insurance vendors including brokers, insurance markets, risk consultants and actuary; develops accountability structure for performance standards / KPI’s.
  • Support the Director, Insurance & Risk Management and complete other duties and special projects as needed.

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business with 9+ years’ corporate risk and insurance experience required.  MBA preferred.
  • ARM, CPCU designation preferred or willingness to pursue insurance designations.
  • Excellent knowledge of property, casualty, and management liability insurance coverage.  Expert level SME of the insurance market, insurance contracts, and insurance brokerage processes.
  • Strong business acumen with initiative and ability to proactively identify issues, research and analyze complex matters, assess potential exposure, and effectively propose and execute courses of action to minimize risk.
  • 10% travel expectation

Bonus:

  • Experience with Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) programs.
  • Experience with business continuity programs.
