What you can expect as the Annuity Disbursements Specialist:

Provide customer service and administrative support in the Annuity Disbursements Department. Review client and agent request and process each request with accuracy and completeness, ensuring service standards are met.

  • Review and process a large variety of Annuity Disbursements requests including, but not limited to: withdrawals, surrenders, transfers and exchanges, anuitizations, loans, EFT/bank information changes, and divorce settlements. Maintain quality and production numbers that meet the department expectations on a consistent basis.
  • Manage multiple responsibilities and processes, ensuring all items are reviewed and completed according to the specified service standards. Proactively request support from others as needed to maintain service standards, as well as offering assistance when other processes require additional support. Be able to handle multiple job functions such as workflow requests, incoming and outgoing calls, e-mails, noting files, faxing, and mailing.
  • Communicate both verbally and in writing with contract/policy owners, agents and internal support departments in matters relating to Annuity Disbursements requests. Provide this service with the needs of the customer at the forefront, using the corporate shared values as the guide for all interactions.
  • Maintain product and procedure knowledge of the various companies serviced. Be familiar with both discontinued and current products, as well as the different companies and products that have been assumed by Midland National or North American.
  • Acquire and maintain Federal and State tax regulations and compliance knowledge related to annuity contracts, service and features and apply this knowledge to our multiple system environment.
  • Research contract/policy history in order to provide information to external or internal customers or agents. This includes matters related to: service history and timelines, taxes/tax reporting, corrections and accounting.
  • Acquire and maintain knowledge of multiple systems, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, PolicyLink, Life 70, Life Comm, Class and other internal web based processing and workflow systems.
  • Maintain the ability to recognize problems and analyze information to determine the correct course of action for escalated and complex matters including, but not limited to: UTMA/UGMA, inherited IRAs, divorce settlements, power of attorney paperwork, trust documents and consumer affairs related inquiries.

  • Drive to meet/exceed all performance goals including KPIs (key performance indicators), SLAs (service level agreements) and other communicated standards.
  • Proactively participate in daily huddle board discussions offering ideas, insights and support.
  • Actively participate in problem solving sessions (standard work, root cause problem solving, etc.) as requested by your manager.
  • Take ownership of implementing standard work and other changes into your daily work processes.
  • Continuously strive to create a positive customer experience throughout all customer interactions, request processing/handling, and problem-solving efforts.
  • Comply with internal Model Audit (MAR) and Records Inventory Management (RIM) Procedures.
  • Acquire and utilize a basic understanding of accounting principles as related to the processing of service requests, be able to research errors, and proactively help to ensure suspense reports are kept within company standards. Diligently work to ensure that all corrections are handled according to procedures.

  • Assist management with determining and implementing process improvements and efficient workflow methods.
  • Work on special projects as assigned by your team leader, manager or other leaders.

What we are looking for:

  • Minimum 2 years' relevant work experience in the insurance industry preferred
  • Background in life insurance/annuity processing preferred
  • Above average 10 key and typing skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skill
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Leadership ability and strong people skills
  • Self-Motivated
  • Criminal background check required
  • Due to the financial nature and level of accountability of this position, a credit and criminal background check is required
  • FINRA regulations require fingerprinting for this position. Management reserves the right to determine and approve incumbent suitability for this position
