Corteva Agriscience is seeking a highly motivated Analytical Chemist/Biochemist to conduct cutting edge research in our campus located in Johnston, Iowa. You will be responsible for conducting analytical and metabolite identification work for non regulatory research activities. We are looking for candidates who enjoy being in a startup like atmosphere, working hands-on while simultaneously contributing scientific/technical projects, as well as participating in broader project teams to enable downstream discovery activities.

Responsibilities

  • Bringing expertise in structure elucidation.
  • Conducting analytical and metabolite identification work for non regulatory in vitro research activities.
  • Being responsible for the development of LC MS/MS chromatographic methods for small molecules within the group and to act as an expert consultant on the development of chromatographic methods within the wider R&D organization.
  • Increasing profile of the department externally by publishing papers/posters and participation in expert groups.
  • Interpreting the relevant data and prepare accurate scientific study updates and contribute to reports.
  • Maintaining and writing SOPs, as required.
  • Monitor research progress, identify problems, and explore new approaches to achieve team goals.
  • Communicate with research leadership and downstream teams on pipeline and progress.


Qualifications
Educational Qualifications:
Master of Science (M.S.) in chemistry, biochemistry, or related fields with over 5 years of relevant experience or applicable industry experience desired; or B.S. in related fields with over 10 years of hands-on experience.
Competencies and Qualifications:

  • Experience in metabolite identification in a CRO, pharmaceutical or agrochemical companies.
  • Experience in chromatographic method development for small molecule research.
  • Experience with protein expression and purification in heterologous expression systems with common affinity tags.
  • Knowledge in running and design of enzymatic assays.
  • Proficient in use of relevant High resolution Mass spectrometry and use of relevant software, LC/GC-MS/MS data interpretation skills.
  • Knowledge of metabolism/metabolic reactions.

  • A proven track record of creative scientific accomplishment as evidenced by a strong publication and/or patent record.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present research to audiences at a variety of levels.
  • Demonstrated proficiency at experimental design, data analysis, interpretation, and reporting.
  • Knowledge of utilization of various databases, bioinformatics tools, modern analytic instrumentations, and computer skills.
