This position plays a pivotal role in the Payer technology domain, supporting new products addressing emerging market opportunities.
Specifically, the successful candidate will work as part of a small but growing team responsible for defining and building new, modern technology solutions for entry into lines of business with both internal and external customers. We are seeking someone who is self-directed yet creative, as you will be tasked with very interesting and complex issues. As a key resource to others, you must possess strong interpersonal skills, be challenged by delivering against tight deadlines, and have excellent oral and written communication skills. A successful candidate will support the engineering and product partners they serve by gathering and updating product materials, tracking team budgets, managing team capacity and velocity, as well as removing barriers and driving consensus to resolve issues.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Act as a Execution lead closely partnering with the Product Manager & IT Delivery Owner to guide multiple agile teams
  • Establish program level cadence and drive program level ceremonies (e.g. PI Planning, Product Management Council, Scrum of Scrums, release train retrospectives, HIP Sprint)
  • Work with other product leaders to drive the definition and refinement of the product backlog
  • Provide leadership, direction, and coaching to scrum teams and partners
  • Ensure cross-value stream coordination and collaboration between teams
  • Serve as an escalation point for impediment removal for the scrum teams
  • Maintain metrics that provide visibility to stakeholders on release progress and quality
  • Facilitate alignment dependencies between the program team and third parties, release managers, or between the team and other Scrum Teams
  • Foster a team collaborative environment that tears down silos between groups - act in a single voice
  • Actively contribute to the company's Agile and Lean Community through participation in the internal Agile Community of Practice and Scrum Master Forums
  • Develop, coach, and mentor team members to advance their skills and career
  • Provide real time feedback to the methodology team based on experiences with software delivery teams
  • Work cross functionally to align strategy, methodology and execution
  • Be a change agent and foster a "learn by doing" environment

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience as a Scrum Master, Release Train Engineer, Product Owner or Agile Coach
  • 2+ years of experience with leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience with offshore and otherwise distributed teams
  • Working knowledge of Rally or other agile management tools
  • Background in Kanban and/or Scrum methodologies


Preferred Qualifications:

  • ScrumMaster, CSPO or other Scrum certifications
  • Agile coaching / mentoring experience
  • Experience leading and developing more than one team at a time
  • Experience with offshore and otherwise distributed teams
  • Experience working with Platform Technology Teams
  • Self-motivated, positive, energetic, confident, and ethical with a solid drive for results
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, and knowledge transfer skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Capable of working independently

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $82,100 to $146,900. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $90,500 to $161,600. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
