Your Role and Responsibilities

IBM Watson Advertising is hiring an Ad Ops Specialist. The Ad Ops Specialist is a dynamic member of the Ad Operations Department and reports to an Ad Operations Manager. They are responsible for partnering with the Client Services Team for trafficking, management, optimization, troubleshooting, reporting and quality assurance of all Digital Ad Sales channels. In direct support of Premium, Programmatic, and Local Ad Sales, persons in this role must be able to translate internal and external client needs into actionable tasks and see them through to completion. The Ad Ops Specialist may contribute to special projects and initiatives, which require representation, input, quality assurance, testing, troubleshooting and resources from the Ad Operations department.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Support our Sales Team with launch and trafficking functions for advertisers' online advertising campaigns, utilizing our order management system and ad server.
  • Partner with the Campaign Manager and Account Manager in management and optimizations of complex ad campaigns.
  • Upload, QA, and assign creative tags and assets for campaign trafficking. This may include late night or after hour support for some of our top strategic accounts and products.
  • Provide QA and be a go-to resource for troubleshooting support for ad campaigns, including creating test pages and a focus on creative, delivery, quality, and technical integrations.
  • Provide administrative support as necessary in the form of audit and compliance tasks, reviewing and updating documentation, ad server or client reporting, etc., and identify issues and resolutions from this support.
  • Provide support to Programmatic initiatives: managing ad server operations for Programmatic Guaranteed Campaigns, troubleshooting Preferred Deals and other Programmatic Campaigns, fulfilling reporting inquiries, setting up new Programmatic Partnerships etc.
  • Support the Local Reseller business by ensuring campaigns are set up properly, responding to client questions, and partnering with the Ad Ops Program Management Team in resolving any issues.
  • Develop Subject Matter Expert skill sets to assist cross-functional teams and be a go-to resource in disciplines such as video, mobile, research/surveys, conversions/attribution, ad call technology, 3rd party vendor tag testing and troubleshooting, etc.
  • Work on ad hoc interdisciplinary projects to expand skills and learn different aspects of Digital Ad Operations and Ad Sales and to test solutions that can enhance our operational efficiency and improve current workflows.
  • Assist with mentoring and coverage for the team when necessary for projects, on-boarding, and day to day operations.
  • Be a creative thinker and strong project manager.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships within the Sales organization.


Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 3+ years of experience managing complex operational processes in online advertising or related industry
  • Knowledge of working with third party Ad Ops tools (e.g. Charles, Fiddler, Debugging software, Advalidation, Ad-Juster, Moat/IAS/Doubleverify and/or similar systems)
  • Experience working with an ad server (Google Ad Manager experience preferred) and an OMS (order management system)
  • Dependable with a positive, solution-oriented attitude
  • Excellent written and verbal presentation skills, interpersonal skills


Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Experience working with HTML, VAST/Video and other Rich media formats
  • Extremely detail-oriented with strong analytics, problem solving, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent time management, prioritization, and multi-tasking skills
  • Experience in improving processes and operational efficiency
  • Mentoring and/or training experience a plus
