Experienced full‑stack developer needed to design, implement, and sustain mission‑focused web applications for defense customers. You will deliver robust backend services in .NET, craft responsive front‑end experiences with Vue.js, and design/optimize SQL Server databases. Work is performed within disciplined SDLC, change‑control, and secure delivery processes supporting deployed systems and field users.
This position can be worked remote, but strong preference will be given to candidates local to Newport News, VA
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement backend APIs and services using C# (.NET Core / ASP.NET) that meet performance, reliability, and security requirements.
- Develop responsive, component‑based UIs with Vue.js, Nuxt, Tailwind and other modern tooling.
- Design, optimize, and maintain SQL Server schemas, stored procedures, indexes, and query performance.
- Integrate applications with authentication/authorization systems (OAuth2/JWT, SAML) and external services.
- Produce clear technical documentation, and deployment artifacts for controlled and/or air‑gapped environments.
- Participate in code reviews and bug triage. Mentor junior engineers and coordinate knowledge transfer.
- Collaborate with product, QA, and systems teams to meet contract milestones and accreditation needs.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree with 4–6 years professional software development experience with demonstrable work in full‑stack projects. 4 additional years of experience in lieu of degree
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain a TS/SCI clearance
- Strong proficiency in C# and .NET Core / ASP.NET development.
- Practical experience building front ends with Vue.js (or comparable modern JS/TS frameworks) and modern front‑end tooling.
- Solid experience with SQL and relational database design.
- Familiarity with RESTful API design, HTTP, JSON, and authentication patterns (Open API/Swagger).
- Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows, branching, and pull requests.
- Strong debugging, problem‑solving, and communication skills; ability to work within structured, audited processes.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server: schema design, T‑SQL, procedures, performance tuning.
- Exposure to CI/CD and DevSecOps toolchains (Azure DevOps, GitLab CI, automated test suites).
- Experience with TypeScript, unit/integration testing frameworks, and front‑end component libraries.
- Experience packaging and deploying software into constrained or air‑gapped environments.
- Familiarity with performance and load testing tools and practices.
- Experience mentoring or leading small engineering teams and supporting junior staff growth.
