OVERVIEW
As a Medical Analyst you will support the abstraction and curation of high quality clinical data and support initiatives related to quality assurance. You will be responsible for the transfer of high quality data from the client EMR into the COTA proprietary oncology management system and/or assigned standard data collection tool.
You will demonstrate great attention to detail, understanding and accuracy in abstracting clinical information and proficiency in the required data abstraction tools. You must have the ability to identify key data elements, and accurately interpret data definitions in compliance with COTA data dictionaries and will report to a Manager or Director within the Medical team.

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT COTA:
- Abstract moderate to highly complex health information from electronic health records using established definitions and guidelines
- Accurately enter data into the COTA proprietary oncology management system and/or data collection tool
- Maintain an abstraction volume to meet internal and external reporting deadlines
- Perform user testing of COTA proprietary oncology management system and provide feedback for platform improvements
- Provide documented reports of findings from data collection as requested
- Perform abstraction simulations and provide feedback for platform improvements or changes to abstraction instructions and/or workflows
- Support abstracting and maintaining up to date gold standard patients used for training purposes
- Contribute to quality assurance of COTA’s abstracted data
- Actively participate in team and cross-functional meetings
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
- Minimum of Bachelor degree in Biology/Biological Sciences or Nursing Programs
- Two (2) years of experience as clinical oncology RN or APN, or three (3) years working with oncology datasets preferred
- Knowledge of medical/oncology terminology, standard medical abbreviations and pharmacy terms
- Working knowledge of clinical workflows to understand health information pertinent to various visits and procedures
- Experience with various electronic health systems
- Proficiency in Google tools including Google Sheets, Google Docs, and Google Slides
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to identify key oncology data elements and accurately interpret data
- Works in an organized and efficient manner
- Adaptable to working on projects across different cancer types and/or different complexities
- Fosters teamwork through active participation in working sessions and team meetings
- Contributes to a positive team spirit
- Effectively identifies problems and works collaboratively towards resolution
- Self-directed; able to work independently on a project or initiative
NICE TO HAVE
- Familiarity with project management tools, including Jira, Microsoft Project
Salary: $72,500-75K
