At Mentee Robotics, we are redefining the future of humanoid automation. Our flagship product, Menteebot v3, is a fully autonomous, AI-integrated robot designed to adapt, learn, and operate in dynamic real-world environments—from logistics to manufacturing to retail.
We combine advanced AI, embedded control, and mechanical precision into a single platform engineered for performance, agility, and real-world deployment.
Your Role: Mechatronics & Actuator Test Engineer
We are looking for a highly capable, hands-on professional to take ownership of testing the critical physical components of our humanoid robot. If you love electric motors, complex gear systems, and finding exactly how and why a mechanical limb breaks under stress, this role is for you.
This is a role for a true builder and problem solver who wants to master the field of hardware validation. You will not just operate tests; you will also collaborate on defining how we test. You will help design test methodologies, build custom rigs, and execute the evaluations that push our actuators, gears, and structural limbs to their physical limits.
Responsibilities- Test Methodology & Planning: Help design test methodologies, define failure criteria, and plan test protocols for custom mechanical and electrical assemblies.
- Build & Assemble: Design, build, and optimize custom test jigs and physical fixtures for motors, gearboxes, and full limb mechanisms.
- Test Execution: Run characterization, durability, and lifetime/fatigue tests to validate components under real-world stresses.
- Data Collection & Automation: Operate software tools, run test sequences, and utilize Python scripts to accurately capture and log hardware performance data.
- Hands-on Troubleshooting: Diagnose mechanical, structural, and electrical failures down to the component level, and physically rebuild or modify parts as needed.
- Feedback Loop: Document test results clearly and collaborate closely with the mechanical design and control teams to report physical failures and behavioral anomalies.
- Lab Maintenance: Maintain the testing lab environment, ensuring instrumentation (DAQs, sensors, power supplies) is organized, safely operated, and functioning correctly.
- Education: Practical Engineer (Handesai) / Technician degree or B.Sc. in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical field.
- Experience: At least 5 years of experience in hands-on hardware/mechatronics testing, OR at least 2 years of dedicated experience focused specifically on electric motor and gear testing.
- Core Knowledge: Strong fundamental understanding of electric motors, gear dynamics, mechanics, and basic electronics.
- Analytical Approach: Ability to understand a hardware problem statement and contribute to designing a logical test setup to solve it.
- The "Maker" DNA: Extremely comfortable working with hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment, and building/fixing physical assemblies from scratch.
- Instrumentation Savvy: Experience working with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, load cells, torque sensors, power supplies, and data acquisition (DAQ) systems.
- Experience testing high-performance actuators in the robotics, automotive, or aerospace industries.
- Experience in constructing complex mechanical or automated test rigs.
- Familiarity with Python or scripting for test automation.
