Role Summary:
The Mechanical Design Engineer plans, directs and coordinates manufacturing processes including machining, assembly and testing. Develops, evaluates and improves manufacturing methods, using knowledge of product, material and part design, manufacturing processes, tooling and production. Analyzes and improves quality, cost and delivery using Lean and Six Sigma tools. Provides engineering support in production departments by solving technical problems.
Responsibilities:
Design drawings of parts and mechanical seal assemblies in accordance with Corporation standards, API Standard 682 guidelines and individual customer specification requirements.
Maintain all engineering systems up to date.
Select sealing system, read customer specifications and identify applicability.
Develop project documentation such as datasheets, manuals, etc.
Provide support and advice to different areas of the company such as production, purchasing, sales, etc.
Lead projects from start-up to commissioning, availability to attend technical meetings with customers or start-ups.
Generation of bills of materials for seal drawings and auxiliary systems.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Mechanical or inductrial engineer or advanced engineering student.
Intermediate to advanced level oral and written English.
Use of Office package, Autocad, Inventor or Solidworks (3D).
Creativity and innovation to find alternative solutions to engineering problems and use independent judgment in a consistent manner.
Analytical, strategic and planning skills. Ability to work under pressure, with a focus on meeting objectives.
Strong moral and ethical values.
Very good interpersonal relationship skills.
On-site work at the plant in Santiago, Chile.
Skills Required
- Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, or advanced engineering student
- Intermediate to advanced oral and written English
- Proficiency with Office package
- Experience with AutoCAD, Inventor or SolidWorks (3D)
- Creativity and independent judgment to develop alternative engineering solutions
- Analytical, strategic and planning skills; ability to work under pressure and meet objectives
