About the job
The Red Hat Marketing team is looking for an experienced and motivated Technical SEO Specialist to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will act as a consultant for multiple agile teams focused on content, UX, and digital marketing strategy. You'll help reduce and prevent technical debt, implement hreflang methods, analyze how design and page load speed impact site rankings, and troubleshoot JavaScript rendering issues. We're looking for someone who can effectively challenge ideas and processes, has a passion for learning about our complex tech stack, and will ultimately make our website easier to find.
What you will do

  • Identify back-end and front-end opportunities to improve organic search
  • Perform technical audits and analysis and make recommendations to improve site health, including auditing page load performance
  • Consult with IT, front-end and back-end developers, and UX team members on technical SEO opportunities (e.g., optimizing critical render path, minimizing network requests per page types, reducing resource sizes, improving accessibility, ensuring that JavaScript is crawlable, module and plugin recommendations, IT process improvements, etc.)
  • Advise on prioritization on key web technical improvements to guide digital investments
  • Analyze and advise on linking strategies across multiple Red Hat web properties
  • Monitor and troubleshoot site crawling software and reports
  • Assess and develop recommendations for how to respond to SEO trends and algorithm changes
  • Automate SEO tasks in order to scale team effectiveness


What you will bring

  • Interest in and familiarity with open source technology
  • Ability to communicate complex information to IT, UX, and Content teams
  • Experience improving page load times, optimizing crawl budget, and implementing schema markup and other structured metadata
  • Functional experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML, sitemaps, and structured data
  • Proficiency with SEO tools (e.g., Ahrefs, Google Search Console, SEMRush, Screaming Frog, Searchmetrics, GTmetrix)
  • Expertise with data analytics tools like Adobe Analytics or Google Analytics
  • Comfortable with slide decks and spreadsheets


The following will be considered a plus:

  • Experience optimizing for or working with regional search engines like Baidu, Naver, Yandex, Qihoo 360, Sogou, etc.
  • Experience with A/B testing and conversion rate optimization
  • Experience or expertise with data visualization tools like Tableau or Google Data Studio
  • Coding experience (e.g., Python, JavaScript, etc.)
  • Familiarity with content management systems for large web ecosystems (e.g., Drupal, Wordpress, Hubspot, Shopify)
  • Experience with SEO for B2B, B2C, ecommerce, and blogs
