Position Summary
As a key member of the Social Media Center of Excellence (on the Corporate Communications team), this individual will be responsible for managing the Illumina corporate social media channels. This includes coordinating and scheduling planned social media posts as well as monitoring and responding to comments, questions, and other engagement opportunities in social media.

This role requires a detailed understanding of tools, analytics and social technology as well as all native, global platforms (Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, WeChat, and beyond). The candidate must demonstrate a clear ability to develop tactics and campaigns that drive the business goals; earned media, audience growth, owned engagement, acquisition, reach, and more. A deep understanding of social voice, tone, style and creative is critical, as well as a clear understanding and familiarity with the company, competitors, and the overall genomics landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate social media content on the Illumina corporate social media channels
  • Engage with customers and the broader Illumina community in social media and respond to/escalate comments and requests
  • Solidify and regulate Illumina's brand voice on social media, including writing and proofing copy and content before posting
  • Support Corporate Communications priorities in social media, including working directly with key internal stakeholders to build out social media strategies
  • Work with cross-functional teams to establish and maintain a corporate social media editorial calendar
  • Keep an eye on the pulse of the media landscape and the activities of KOLs to identify and surface reactive opportunities on social media
  • Analyze web traffic and relevant social platform metrics
  • Relay community feedback to relevant internal stakeholders
  • Foster strong relationships between Illumina and customers, media, and other KOLs (key opinion leaders) in social media
  • Liaise with other Illumina functions to stay updated on new marketing initiatives, product and service developments, and to ensure brand consistency
  • Attend networking events or relevant industry workshops
  • Align with key stakeholders to identify success metrics for social media campaigns
  • Support Social Media Director with ad hoc strategy and materials development



Requirements

  • Manager: At least seven (7) years of experience in managing global social media communities and driving engaging programs on multiple channels (experience in life sciences, biotech, and/or a highly regulated environment preferred)
  • Sr Specialist: At least five (5) years of experience in managing global social media communities and driving engaging programs on multiple channels (experience in life sciences, biotech, and/or a highly regulated environment preferred)
  • Ability to identify, track, interpret and report relevant social media metrics
  • Clear and proactive communicator with ability to manage the needs of multiple stakeholders, including C-Suite
  • Precise attention to detail
  • Analytical mindset with proficiency in marketing and metrics
  • Strategic thinker and proactive problem solver
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic and agile environment
