About This Position:

As the Senior Manager, Public Relations, you will provide media relations counsel and external communications support to promote and elevate T. Rowe Price and further position the company as a premier investment management firm.
Role Summary:

Works with internal clients and external partners to identify story opportunities. Leads and manages the execution of communications strategies and tactics in support of corporate and community programs and initiatives. Oversees the development of assets supporting program launches, including press releases, blog posts, talking points, videos, photography, etc. Identifies and coaches subject matter experts in advance of interviews and events. Maintains key relationships across the firm and with media outlets. Leverages nonprofit partners, partnerships and events for PR and explores new channels for the communication team's consideration. Ensures disseminated information is purpose-driven, timely, accurate, and consistent with T. Rowe Price values and business objectives. Provides reactive counsel and develops key messages and media statements in support of an issue or crisis. Acts as a team player by supporting PR colleagues as well as other communication team needs as identified. Uses PR judgment and operates with sensitivity and confidentiality when appropriate.
Responsibilities:

Media Relations: The Senior PR Manager will conduct media relations activities primarily in support of the firm's corporate and community relations efforts. The Senior PR Manager will also support the PR team's overall mission of protecting and promoting the T. Rowe Price brand through the media. This role plays a pivotal role in protecting our reputation by building positive media relationships and carefully handle difficult ones. The Sr PR Manager will serve as TRP spokesperson on relevant topics at both an enterprise and a business segment level using broad knowledge of the overall strategy of the firm, our investment capabilities, related services and business unit strategy.

By effectively handling incoming media requests and proactively creating media opportunities, the Sr PR Manager will maintain strong visibility with the media and ensure that we are building and maintaining relationships with news outlets, journalists, and other influencers across all our audience segments. The Sr PR Manager will also closely coordinate efforts with the PR agencies dedicated to these initiatives.

Strategy/Counsel: The Sr PR Manager will work closely with community relations teams, colleagues and business unit leadership to provide counsel on the development of PR programs that will support the firm's communications goals. Responsibilities include influencing the development of substantive campaigns that will be newsworthy and resonate with the media, guiding and writing content to support these campaigns, and reporting back to business partners on the results of the campaigns. The Sr PR Manager will also support the development and implementation of digital strategies and identify ways to adapt our communications approach to a digital communications environment.

In carrying out these responsibilities, the Sr PR Manager will stay abreast of business priorities to ensure PR is aligned with them. The Sr PR Manager will also collaborate effectively across the firm as an emissary for the PR function, helping our business partners understand how to best utilize PR as a strategic, promotional, and reputational tool.

Writing/Content: The Sr PR Manager will research and write clear, concise, and effective press releases, pitch letters, bylined articles, and other public relations documents, and contribute to our ability to get our intellectual capital distributed through relevant social channels. The Sr PR Manager will also create specialized content as part of PR and community campaigns developed to support the firm's integrated marketing goals and go-to-market offerings. The Sr PR Manager will identify, research, and write content that will differentiate T. Rowe Price from the market.

Collaboration: In addition to our business partners, the Sr PR Manager will build strong professional relationships across the firm, particularly with our enterprise teams to ensure that we can better engage with the media and uncover the insights that serve as our currency with the media.

Qualifications:
Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience AND
  • 8+ years of total relevant work experience.


Preferred:

  • Five+ years of media relations experience
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with and influence senior leaders
  • Knowledge of public relations principles
  • Ability to recognize compelling stories, conduct research, and write effective content for the media
  • Outstanding writing, storytelling, and media relations skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to prioritize and juggle projects while also meeting deadlines
  • Strong influencing skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Self-motivated and resourceful


Regional Requirements:

FINRA licenses are not required and will not be supported for this role.
