Job Description

Pearson Higher Education's B2B Marketing group is looking for a Senior Director, Content Marketing (SDCM) to lead the Content Marketing team. The Content Marketing team is responsible for creating content that engages faculty and institutional leaders across the marketing funnel. The SDCM is a key member of the B2B Marketing leadership team. The B2B Marketing group is responsible for supporting share and revenue growth by driving higher education faculty adoption, usage, and renewal of Pearson digital content and platforms.

The ideal candidate is a creative, experienced, and customer-centric content marketing leader with a proven track record managing a repeatable and scalable content framework - from content strategy and ideation to development and production across multiple platforms/channels/formats - including website(s), landing page experience(s), social media, sales enablement materials, customer email(s), video, case studies, white papers, infographics etc.

The SDCM must have a solid understanding of the B2B buying journey, inbound marketing, and demand generation with a keen understanding and appreciation for a customer-centric content approach to accelerate awareness, consideration, and conversion. The SDCM is a creative storyteller who can galvanize the extended marketing organization to develop unique and compelling content that will engage higher education faculty.

The SDCM manages a diverse team of designers, copywriters, web developers, video producers, and project managers who collaborate with Product Marketers and Campaign Specialists to develop content/assets plans for multi-channel B2B campaigns and sales enablement. The team is also accountable for the timely production of planned content and assets as well as managing the marketing content editorial calendar. The SDCM also manages a Marketing Automation Manager who works closely with Campaign Specialists on repeatable best practice approaches to leveraging email, digital channels, and marketing technology to reach defined audiences with the right content at the right time.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, manage, develop, and lead an effective, expert, and highly collaborative diverse team
  • Lead, coordinate and execute a holistic content marketing strategy that ensures we are reaching customers and prospects with the right stories, in the right formats, at the right time, across effective channels
  • Collaborate with the B2B Marketing leadership team to align and scale content needs for top, middle and bottom of funnel. This includes, but is not limited to audience-focused sales collateral, paid media, social media, SEO, websites, landing page experiences, media assets, email nurture campaigns, and other materials to help differentiate the Pearson brand and products to higher education faculty
  • Promote a transparent and inclusive culture where employees are encouraged to learn more about themselves and others
  • Recommend and define content and digital campaign strategies, tactics, and test plans to achieve business objectives
  • Work closely with the Performance Marketing team on planning the activation/execution of email and digital channel B2B content
  • Create a set of requirements for leveraging the Pearson Educator website to enable effective digital content campaigns and work closely with the Pearson Educator team to inform the ongoing website roadmap
  • Define and manage a content calendar, content production/development & delivery schedules and cross functional process with key stakeholders
  • As required, work with vendors/agencies and freelancers to successfully produce content. Drive continuous innovation in evolving formats most effective at engaging our target audiences.
  • Work with the Performance Marketing team and the Analytics & Insights teams to develop effective ways to measure and report on content performance

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and successful work experience are required
  • 7+ years of B2B content marketing or digital marketing experience
  • 3+ years of experience at the Director level
  • Keen understanding of the interconnectivity of strategy, company storytelling, brand building, and product stories and how the right content can be leveraged to drive awareness, consideration, and conversion
  • Strong understanding of current trends and best practices in email and digital marketing channels
  • 5+ years of experience with marketing technology & systems - Pardot, Marketing Cloud & Salesforce experience a plus
  • Demonstrated successful experience collaborating with key stakeholders to implement and execute strategic and tactical plans that drive the success of the business
  • Excellent prioritization, time management, organizational skills
  • Excellent analytical and project management skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills, intellectual curiosity, and the resilience to take on and solve complex problems
  • Ability to communicate effectively and interface with at all levels, including senior management and technical personnel.
  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
