Our Opportunity:

Chewy is looking for a Social Media & Community Manager to join our in-house PetMD editorial team and work with passionate pet lovers. PetMD’s mission is to be the most trusted resource for pet health education and answers, empowering pet parents to make informed care decisions.  

The ideal candidate is a seasoned digital marketer with proven expertise and success in leading social media strategy and execution, building communities centered on content, and optimizing for business impact. You will work closely with the Senior Channel Strategist to build a multi-channel growth strategy to increase our social following, engagement, and website traffic. The ability to work creatively within a team and lead the ideation and briefing processes of content production is paramount. 

What You’ll Do:

  • Design and implement a long-term, multi-channel social media strategy for PetMD across platforms including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. You’ll identify channel-specific strategies and expansion opportunities to support our engagement and traffic diversification goals
  • Run day-to-day social media operations, creating and posting shareable and engaging social-first content, including “edutaining” link posts, videos, and graphics 
  • Build a community of pet parents and Chewy veterinarians that supports PetMD’s goal to be the top-of-mind destination for pet parents seeking vet-approved, authoritative information on pet health
  • Define the PetMD social brand guidelines and voice and collaborate with Creative Services to write creative briefs with defined program objectives and KPIs 
  • Monitor the PetMD social media channels and support a strategy to respond to queries and comments to build audience interaction
  • Measure, analyze, and optimize performance of owned social channels, including generating reports tracking engagement and key social metrics, to grow our audience and engagements 
  • Coordinate with the editorial staff on monthly content calendar and priorities while evaluating audience consumption
  • Support internal content partnerships with Chewy properties including the main storefront and other Chewy blogs / websites. This includes developing opportunities for PetMD to support Chewy’s business objectives
  • Work with the internal and external veterinary and pet health community to identify and establish content opportunities and strategic partnerships

What You’ll Need:

  • BA in English, Journalism, Communications or a related field or commensurate experience
  • 5+ years of experience in social strategy and digital content development; proven social media expertise in organic and paid
  • Proven ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously, work in a fast-paced environment, and pay close attention to detail
  • Love of pets and passion for their care and health
  • A deep understanding of creating video for digital platforms and storytelling for social platforms, including YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook
  • Experience creating graphic posts tailored for social media platforms
  • Working knowledge of AP style and able to follow an in-house style guide
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Highly developed intrapersonal skills
  • Experience working in a CMS
  • Position may require travel

Bonus (if applicable):

  • Experience operating within Sprinklr, Google Analytics, and Adobe Creative Suite—specifically Premiere and Photoshop
  • Proficiency in live streaming production
