Our Opportunity:

Chewy is looking for a Social Media & Community Manager / Editor to join our in-house PetMD editorial team in Dania Beach, FL and work with passionate pet lovers. The ideal candidate has experience maintaining leading social media platforms, building communities centered on content, and basic editorial skills. Your daily tasks will include supporting and expanding PetMD’s social media footprint, including tracking campaign analytics and designing strategy, as well as working on both internal and external content partnerships. Your editorial duties will include light editing and supporting the editorial staff as needed.

PetMD is a pet parent’s go-to source for reliable, up-to-date information on all things related to pet health and care. Our articles are vet-written and vet-reviewed to ensure that pet parents have access to the unbiased answers and solutions they’re looking for. PetMD creates a meeting place where veterinarians can reach pet parents beyond the clinic with the helpful tips, advice, and knowledge they need to provide the best care for their pets.

What You’ll Do:

  • Design and implement social media strategy for PetMD. Our current platforms include Facebook and Twitter, with expansion opportunities for both. You’ll also identify additional opportunities on social media (such as TikTok, Pinterest, and Instagram) and design a strategic approach to support PetMD’s editorial mission.
  • Work with Creative Services and/or independently to create compelling text, video, and graphic social media posts.
  • Monitor PetMD social media channels and support a strategy to respond to queries and comments and build on our engaged audience, including generating reports tracking engagement and key social metrics.
  • Create a strategy to build a community of pet parents and Chewy veterinarians to interact in a way that supports Chewy’s goal to be the top-of-mind destination for pet parents seeking vet-approved, authoritative information on pet health.
  • Work with the external veterinary and pet health community to identify and establish content and other strategic partnerships.
  • Support internal content partnerships with Chewy properties, including the main storefront and other Chewy blogs / websites. This includes providing day-to-day support to Chewy business units as needed, as well as identifying and developing internal opportunities for PetMD to support Chewy’s business objectives.
  • Support the editorial staff as needed. This may include proofing, light editing, and working in our CMS.

What You’ll Need:

  • BA in English, Journalism, Communications or a related field or commensurate experience
  • 2-3 years of experience working for a consumer-facing media outlet, including experience managing social media platforms and tools.
  • Experience creating graphic posts tailored for social media platforms.
  • Video experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Working knowledge of AP style and able to follow an in-house style guide.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • An ability to flawlessly multi-task and thrive under pressure and deadlines
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities, and to quickly adjust strategy and execution in the face of new information
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Highly developed intrapersonal skills
  • Experience working in a CMS
  • Love of pets and passion for their care and health
  • Position may require travel
