Senior Social Marketing Manager

The GitLab Brand Social Marketing team is responsible for the GitLab brand social channels as well as the GitLab Team Member Social Media Enablement Program. We also act as subject matter experts for our senior leadership team and general GitLab Team Members around personal social media practices.
We’re looking for a social marketing expert who is ready to learn more about people leadership, working in an asynchronous environment, consulting with cross-functional efforts, and educating the entire GitLab team on social media practices.
What you’ll do in this role
Our Senior Social Marketing Manager will be responsible for successful social media campaigns and content from end-to-end, from ideation to reporting on performance and have their hands in social media enablement and advocacy work. Some work may be done independently, with another member of the social marketing team, or as the social media subject matter expert on a cross-functional team.
Core Social Marketing Activities
- Develop and execute global social marketing campaigns of all sizes individually or with a cross-functional team
- Craft a social marketing content calendar that will help engage, grow and educate our followers
- Work with in-house brand and creative teams to create engaging assets, sometimes designing quick needs yourself
- Monitor and engage with users across social channels who mention us, sharing their content with GitLab Team Members as appropriate - community management is a shared responsibility across the social marketing team
- Contribute to developing and reporting on OKRs, campaign performance, and milestones
Brand Risk Mitigation
- Provide insight into navigating typical social media risks - understand how our content relates to what’s happening in the world away from GitLab and DevOps
- Contribute your perspective on what strategies we won’t use as much as what we will use
Employee Social Media Advocacy
- Contribute to our new employee social media advocacy program
Professional Growth and Subject Matter Expertise
- Articulate & document social marketing strategies and processes in the GitLab handbook - this is our living and breathing strategy
- Consult with interested team members on their personal social strategy and how they can position themselves within the GitLab community
- Work with the team to ensure amplification and engagement is incorporated as part of integrated campaign strategy and execution
- Staying up-to-date and educating others on current technologies, algorithm changes, and trends in social media
We’re looking for
- Minimum of 5 years of overall professional experience
- 3+ years experience in social media marketing across a breadth of social media specific activities like campaign development, brand and community management, copywriting, light social graphic design, employee social advocacy - and the ability to step into any of these roles as needed
- Proven experience in
- managing highly visible, high-volume social media channels
- reporting on performance for non-social media experts, including senior leadership teams
- Working independently as well as working as the subject matter expert in cross-functional teams (please consider providing a professional reference from a current or former colleague that works outside of social marketing)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proven problem analysis and problem-solving skills

- Experience in social media for events, particularly live or “live-to-tape” events
- Experience in producing video content for social media
- Experience with any of these tools: Sprout Social, Bambu by Sprout Social, Sisense, Canva Pro, and GitLab
- Experience with social listening techniques and reporting
