Senior Product Marketing Manager
About the Job
The Sr Product Marketing Manager role is an opportunity for smart, product marketing-focused individuals to deepen their skills as a customer-centric product marketer through building out the go-to-market strategy for their assigned products. The Sr Product Marketing Manager will use leadership skills, technical knowledge, customer analysis, strong business acumen, and inputs from a cross-functional global team to support a range of activities, from defining customer needs and evaluating the competitive landscape and market trends, engaging industry analysts, developing messaging and positioning, and providing the base content for marketing programs and campaigns. This individual will interface regularly with engineering, sales, product management, the integrated marketing functions, and business leadership to position key 3Play Media products.
The right candidate is a self-motivated individual, who can easily function in a high demand, performance-driven environment. They must be accustomed to working on multiple tasks in parallel. This professional must demonstrate strong leadership skills and be able to gain credibility with team members and senior management. This is a manager level role, reporting to the Vice President of Product.
Responsibilities
The Sr Product Marketing Manager will synthesize market analysis, customer needs, and product capabilities into easy-to-understand messages and value propositions. The person in this role should be a creative technical marketing professional skilled in storytelling with knowledge of and experience in the marketing and sales technology stack.
- Drive a customer-centric marketing approach within the organization, ensuring that messaging, content and campaign strategies are centered around the customer buying needs
- Own market and customer research activities, including Voice of Customer and JTBD
- Understand customer pains and opportunities and be a market / customer advocate
- Interact with customers and partners to gain perspective on how our products are being used
- Frame market segmentation and targeting to support and define market opportunity assessments
- Build business cases for expanding market presence
- Partner with Sales and Sales Enablement to help progress pipeline opportunities and enable successful client-facing conversations with successful demand generation.
- Create positioning, value propositions and messaging that resonates with the buying audience, both at the product, solution and theme level
- Provide source messaging documents to be used for campaigns, demand generation and content
- Develop competitive positioning; perform competitive analysis
- Participate in the development of customer references, testimonials and case studies
- Provide direction to the marketing team when it comes to product-related activities
- Drive product release tracking and launch activities through development and launch cycles
- The individual in this role will demonstrate a strong understanding of customer needs and keep current with industry trends specific to customer experience.
Requirements
We're looking for a product marketer who can partner and influence decisions in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This individual will collaborate with cross-functional due diligence teams to ensure all relevant tasks are completed. This individual must be a self-starter, able to work autonomously, "roll up the sleeves", natural problem solver, collaborative, and not fazed by adversity or ambiguity. Additional personal and professional attributes include:
- The ability to ramp up quickly on technical concepts
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
- Ability to partner with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Sales, Business Development/Pricing, Product Management, and Marketing
- Plan, execute, and lead successful product launches
- Strategic thinker, creative problem solver and strong analytical skills
- Ability to communicate product messaging and influence audiences such as customers, prospects, sales, industry analysts and trade press
Required Experience
- Minimum 3+ years of related product or solutions marketing experience
- Experience with Product Marketing approaches and best practices
- Experience with a rapidly scaling technology/software business
- Experience with video or streaming platforms a plus
- Bachelor's or graduate degree in Marketing, Business, Technology or related field
- MBA a plus
