Responsibilities & Requirements
The Sr. Director/Head of Communications will be responsible for leading all Internal and External Communications functions across the Bonterra portfolio. Reporting to the VP of Brand Marketing and working with the Executive Leadership Team (CEO, CMO, etc.) you'll manage all aspects of PR, from crafting a compelling narrative, to managing the internal team & agencies, to building out and executing upon a media strategy. The result of your work will elevate Bonterra's brand, drive product awareness, and support our hiring efforts. Passion for storytelling is a critical aspect for this position.
This role will report to the VP of Brand Marketing and have one direct report.
Responsibilities:

  • Own Bonterra's PR strategy and execution across all aspects of PR including corporate, industry, and internal communications.
  • Build and execute strategic PR plans, including developing plans in line with other business initiatives, communicating plans internally and securing leadership approvals
  • Scale Bonterra's external approach to PR, including overseeing agency and contractor relationships to extend our capabilities as we quickly scale
  • Create a PR narrative based on the Bonterra brand strategy that extends our growth momentum across our segments/BUs
  • Develop press releases, bylines, blog posts, and other key pieces of content
  • Manage press opportunities through to completion - including staffing interviews, developing background bios, briefing executive spokespeople and tracking through the publishing process
  • Establish and nurture relationships with key media contacts with the goal of getting Bonterra placed in top media outlets
  • Create metrics to measure success and impact of corporate communications
  • Be a member of the Brand Leadership team closely with the rest of the marketing team, product, enterprise, and other internal groups to cohesively approach projects and activities, including participating with the Editorial Calendar and planning
  • Serve as a business partner to the People and internal communications team to ensure message alignment, etc.
  • Partner with the HR team to drive growth of the Bonterra employment brand, ensuring Bonterra is considered a top-tier employer in the tech & social good space
  • Prioritize resources across the needs of the BUs and overall Bonterra


Required Experience:

  • 7-10+ years of related communications experience, with 3+ years of people management experience in a fasted paced, high-tech or like organization
  • Thrives in a collaborative environment. Experience building strong working relationships with executive leaders, product teams, and other business stakeholders
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, proven team collaboration skills, and demonstrated leadership and influence abilities.
  • Out-of-the box thinking to drive brand building, excellent writer and storyteller that exercises great judgement
  • Goal-oriented, cool under pressure, and bend towards continuous improvement
  • Experience in working closely with executives
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in an agile and deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent presentation/advisory skills - clear, concise thinking and ability to deliver meaningful advice to senior leaders on communications strategy
  • A strong self-starter who is willing to make their mark in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial organization
  • Ability to define key metrics and goals related to both functional and project level progress and success
