We are currently seeking a Senior Manager of Public Relations to drive strategic external communications and public relations initiatives for JLL's local markets in the Americas.

We're seeking a forward-thinking communicator to oversee creation and implementation of external communication plans and programs encompassing traditional and digital media, external speaking engagements, executive communications, and social media.

The successful candidate will develop and lead communications programs that:

  • Advance JLL's brand positioning and thought leadership with our current and potential clients, influencers in our industry and with potential employees
  • Exemplify how we are the digital leader in commercial real estate, committed to delivering innovative technology solutions that enhance clients' business performance
  • Differentiate JLL as the market leader in products and services that help clients use their workplaces and portfolios as strategic levers for broader business objectives such as talent attraction, employee productivity, brand differentiation and financial performance
  • Align JLL leaders' external conversation with growth priorities and client needs


This position reports to the Director of Business PR in the Americas.

Responsibilities

External Communications Leadership

  • Direct audience specific executive visibility programs (media, speaking opportunities, social engagement, thought leadership) for key markets leadership
  • Supports transaction outreach for divisional needs
  • Creates key messages and interview briefings to media train spokespeople. Repositions comments/learnings into editorial or campaign pieces
  • Liaise with local markets on a formal and ad hoc basis by leading regular meetings with communications contacts in those markets and encouraging two-way dialogue about national and local priorities and stories
  • Establish and implement integrated PR programs in the Americas that tell the story of JLL's thought leadership and our corporate performance and culture, aligning with our brand positioning around technology and our goals around talent acquisition and retention
  • Lead development of local media relationships with targeted publications, potentially in collaboration with an external agency or agencies.
  • Identify creative and innovative ways to convey the JLL story
  • Identify and develop a bench of spokespeople in key topic areas who can speak on behalf of the JLL brand and help shape and promote thought leadership / external content in those areas
  • Incorporate analytics and metrics in planning and evaluation of external communications activities, taking a data-driven approach to communications efforts and counsel
  • Effectively extend content into demand generation effort, as appropriate


Relationship Management

  • Develop relationships and provide strategic communications counsel, acting as a trusted advisor to key contacts at all levels of JLL's business
  • Manage productive relationships with internal partners to the business (such as marketing, research, internal communications, brand, digital, etc.) at regional, national, and global levels


Team and Program Management

  • Design measurement practices, leveraging analytics to drive strategic plans and content decisions
  • Communicate results and recommend improvements to communications practices
  • Manage relationships with external agencies, as appropriate, to deliver on business line communications objectives
  • Manage program budget and operations as appropriate
  • Help manage and develop junior team member(s)


Candidate profile

With 5-8 years overall experience, this individual will be a proven B2B communications leader and strategic thinker. Key competencies required for the position include:

  • Proven understanding of how communications can be used to position a brand and support revenue generation and growth for products and services.
  • Deep, hands-on experience in strategic communications, including messaging and issues/change management
  • Experience building, securing buy-in, and launching new programs
  • Proven ability to cultivate relationships with and advise leadership-level stakeholders, with appropriate level of confidentiality when required
  • Expertise in influencing business strategies and aligning communications with commercial objectives
  • Experience working with business media and targeted trade press; experience in counseling spokespersons for broadcast appearances
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, initiative, creativity
  • Experience working in heavily matrixed environments, leading by influence, and managing change
  • Experience leading and achieving results in a collaborative work environment
  • Experience using research and industry insights and best practices to drive strategies and tactics
  • Current on trends in brand journalism, content development/management, social media outreach, executive communications, self-publishing channels, and communications measurement approaches
