Public Relations Specialist - Job Description

The public relations specialist is responsible for helping to grow, shape, and maintain Medical Solutions' reputation, image and brand. This professional will be tasked with identifying media opportunities, maintaining existing media relations, and promoting positive public awareness of Medical Solutions through press and media communications.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Draft press releases, media kits, pitches, collaborate with marketing team to develop case studies, white papers, and media summaries
  • Build relationships with new media contacts and maintain relationships with existing contacts
  • Manage media requests in a timely and professional manner
  • Develop and pitch story ideas and content to media
  • Ensure all communication is cohesive and consistent with the brand voice, value proposition, messaging and image
  • Track and analyze media coverage to inform future campaigns
  • Organize, schedule, coach and prepare key leaders for press interviews as needed
  • Draft and submit individual and organizational award applications

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, or related field
  • 3-4 years of experience in public relations or corporate communications
  • Experience handling and managing press conferences
  • Experience pitching stories to the media
  • Ability to work on big strategy plans as well as day-to-day tasks
  • Ability to think both creatively and strategically
  • Ability to run PR campaigns that deliver measurable results and meet objectives
  • Deadline-oriented, inquisitive, with great follow-up and reporting skills
  • Creativity in securing coverage and buzz with traditional and non-traditional outlets
  • Understanding of social media and solid experience working with bloggers
  • Project and budget management skills
  • Quick and enthusiastic learner
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
  • Strong working knowledge of a variety of public relations programs
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
