The Red Hat Legal team is looking for a Public Policy Communications Advisor to join us in Raleigh, NC or remotely. In this role, you will support communications for Red Hat's Public Policy team, including its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs, reporting to Vice President Global Public Policy, and other duties as assigned. You'll serve as a communications and messaging specialist and to succeed in this role, you'll need to find enjoyment in telling stories completely, yet succinctly, to a wide range of audiences. You'll be responsible for drafting and updating all public policy and CSR communications with internal and external stakeholders, including Red Hat's public-facing annual Community and Social Responsibility report, public-facing web pages, our intranet site, regular email, and newsletters. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.
What you will do
- Manage communications strategy and cadence for discrete Public Policy and CSR activities as well as overall team communications calendar
- Update company intranet and other internal portals with current information and blog posts
- Research and implement new ways to measure impact of communications
- Provide Red Hat associates with shareable content for social media
- Work closely with various stakeholders throughout the company to collect stories, photos, and articles about Red Hat's corporate citizenship programs and activities for regular cadence of local, company-wide, and external communications
- Draft all CSR-related copy and content, including Red Hat's annual CSR report, internal email communications, internal and external web pages, and social media posts
- Proofread and edit CSR content from key stakeholders for consistent messaging and writing style, in conformity with Red Hat's style guides
- Support other communications projects like environmental, social, and governance (ESG) disclosures
- Perform other work as assigned
What you will bring
- 3+ years of experience working in a related field like communications, marketing, or journalism
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including close attention to details (punctuation, grammar, spelling, etc.)
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, manage time effectively, establish priorities, and communicate expectations to stakeholders
- Excellent organizational skills
- Basic HTML and web experience, slide deck creation, or graphic design experience is a plus
