Reporting to the Product Marketing Manager-Residential Products, the Product Marketing Specialist will be responsible for ABB's Modular Metering electrical products portfolio including MiniMod, MeterMod, Horizontal & Single socket metering, and the Meter socket load centers for the US market. The Product Marketing Specialist will also be responsible for developing and implementing the product marketing strategy to meet business objectives in agreement with the global product strategy. The successful candidate will assume accountability and ownership for the respective product portfolio, oversee all marketing activities, promotion, and support the Front-End Sales (FES) organization in driving revenue of respective products. Candidates must be experienced in creation and management of relationships with key customers and external influencers. Indirect leadership of a cross-functional execution team will be a key component to achieving objectives in this role. ***The ideal location is Cary, NC; however, a remote option will be considered for the ideal candidate.***

Your responsibilities

  • Strategy: Creates, plans, and ensures implementation of the US go-to market product marketing strategy including definition and communication of product value propositions and product positioning in accordance with the global product marketing strategy.
  • Targets: Ensures achievement of product marketing targets and budgets through regular oversight, definition and implementation of improvement plans as needed.
  • Business Planning: Develops and implements annual marketing plans in conjunction with US customer experience and communication teams. Prepares business plans focused on business development for a defined market.
  • Market Analysis: Coordinates with cross functional and cross division product marketing and sales team members to define appropriate forecasts and plans. Collects, evaluates, and shares customer research, market conditions and competitive data, with a focus on lead times, specification acceptance, and pricing.
  • Sales: Oversees sales execution for assigned products by coordinating the preparation of relevant materials and guidance to sales teams.
  • Product Management: Collaborates with division Global Product Managers on local standards, and installation norms to ensure local product market acceptance.
  • Data Governance: Works with IT and global product management to ensure master data is up to date, inclusive of price, packaging, performance characteristics etc.
  • Inventory / Product availability: Works with SIOP and Manufacturing in development of a manufacturing/inventory plan to meet customer delivery expectations.
  • Training: Collaborates with the Training team to drive sales efficiency by ensuring appropriate product knowledge (technical and sales) for each Sales person. Focus on knowledge transfer of key products and customer value by application. Promotes sharing and cross-collaboration.
  • Program Management: Leads and manages commercialization efforts of multiple programs, including voice of customer (VOC) and product launches. Coordinates with product management team, providing market and customer needs to maximize product and price positioning. Builds and sustains relationships with launch partners and third party representatives.
Your background

  • Bachelor's Degree (Engineering or Marketing preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in sales/marketing/product management/product marketing or relevant field
  • Strong analysis and problem solving skills
  • Ability to perform competitive analysis
  • Strong internal and external communication skills both written and verbal
  • Six Sigma or equivalent training in process and quality assurance methodology preferred
  • Experience with customer relations via service, visits, relationships, etc. preferred
  • Experience in developing inventory strategies to meet customer demand preferred
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
