Job Description Summary

The Los Angeles Times and San Diego Union-Tribune are looking for a passionate, agile Product Marketing Manager who is as strategic as they are detail-oriented to join our team and help drive our marketing efforts.

The Product Marketing Manager, Podcasts is responsible for strategizing and executing the marketing campaigns for the Los Angeles Times podcast portfolio. This role is responsible for concepting, strategizing and executing 360 marketing campaigns to drive podcast downloads and listens. This includes launching new podcasts across a variety of genres, as well as sustaining listenership for current podcast titles like The Times, Asian Enough, The Envelope, etc.

With a strong secondary goal of getting podcast listeners to subscribe to the L.A. Times, the Product Marketing Manager, Podcasts should think strategically about the right place, time and format for ads to promote subscriptions - whether it's host-read audio ads, digital ads, print ads, paid social, etc.

In order to be successful in this role, the Product Marketing Manager, Podcasts should be a data-driven, solutions-oriented leader who thrives on building cross-departmental relationships in a fast-paced environment.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Consumer Marketing team with entire Podcast campaigns from concept to execution.
  • Ensure all campaigns are clear, concise, and strategic focused on driving business results, and inspiring action.
  • Regularly pull reporting and make optimization recommendations based on performance vs goal.
  • Oversee special projects as assigned by manager or department head.
  • Collaborate and effectively communicate with other departments to ensure all expectations are met.
  • Strategize marketing direction with senior director and stakeholders on all campaigns including brand tone, creative guidelines, timeline and external partnership integration.
  • Ensure the brand tone is accurately communicated on all branded advertising materials.
  • Participate in weekly inter-department meetings to provide status updates and insight on upcoming milestones.
  • Provide and present campaign recaps to stakeholders and leadership team upon conclusion of each campaign.



Qualifications:

  • 5+ years' marketing experience at an advertising agency, production company, in-house marketing department, or similar.
  • 3+ years' podcast marketing experience.
  • Self-starter who excels in multi-tasking, prioritization and working effectively under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and re-prioritize as new needs arise.
  • Critical thinker who can make smart decisions.
  • Must be a team player with a results-oriented focused.
  • Experience in creating strategic briefs.
  • Experience with Spotify, Apple and other third-party podcast listening platforms.



Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred.
