Job summary
The Red Hat Enterprise Apps Strategy and Transformation (EAST) team within the Information Technology (IT) team is looking for an Operational Readiness Communications Manager to join us. In this role, you will serve as a manager of a team of Readiness Communication strategists and specialists who have expertise in delivering transformation change messaging in support of large-scale programs and portfolios. You will help us develop and implement innovative and strategic change communications to promote awareness and understand perceptions and preferences across the portfolio. You will counsel operational readiness leads, develop the team, and lead cross-functional teams to achieve measurable and impactful results. You'll need to be motivated to engage with global stakeholders and the portfolio team, agile in response to changes and needs of various stakeholders, and analytical in identifying risks, opportunities, and dependencies. As an Operational Readiness Communications Manager, you should have excellent written and verbal communication skills, proven experience in portfolio or program communications, and ability to write for a variety of internal channels. Finally, you'll need to have experience with developing and deploying change management-driven communications in a corporate setting in support of large-scale initiatives and projects.
Primary job responsibilities

  • Lead the communications team responsible for developing and carrying out key messaging to promote awareness, support, and adoption of portfolio goals
  • Oversee strategic storytelling efforts and the development of compelling content that will educate around how the portfolio and program teams are delivering and supporting organization strategies and objectives
  • Work closely with Operational Readiness leaders to understand the change vision and craft communication strategies, manage responses to inquiries, and provide counsel to subject matter experts
  • Seek continuous improvement of internal processes; establish KPIs and metrics and regularly measure progress and results; recommend necessary tactical plan changes as needed
  • Work cross-functionally and across regions to ensure alignment of communications planning and implementation
  • Share and apply best practices in marketing and communications
  • Review and approve the collateral created by the team and ensure that value proposition and message are on-strategy
  • Work with portfolio members and team to ensure accurate updates of messaging and collateral
  • Launch plan components, including functional support, collateral design, campaign design, intranet strategy design, and other facets of an effective communications and marketing campaign to grow awareness around the changes


Required skills

  • 8+ years of relevant marketing or communications experience
  • 5 years of management or leadership experience
  • Leadership experience to inspire technical professionals to achieve high performance levels
  • Demonstrated experience in defining creative strategy and value proposition, communication strategy, and integrated communications plans
  • Solid collaboration, team building, and personnel development skills and ability to work effectively within a matrixed organization
  • Data and digital-driven and process-oriented; proven experience in scaling and continuously improving operations
  • Documented accomplishment in building communications strategies and plans within a highly matrixed environment and in support of large transformational change initiatives
  • Solid record of developing and carrying out enterprise communication strategies
  • Great communicator with exceptional writing and presentation skills and the ability to develop and counsel others
  • Ability to affect change through influence more than authority; excellent collaborator and negotiator
  • Attention to detail and intrinsic editorial expertise
  • Passionate about innovation; ability to propose new ideas and improved ways of approaching opportunities
  • Comfortable operating in rapidly changing environments
