Meet the Content & Design Team:

The Content & Design team operates like an in-house agency, producing strategy-based, performance-driven marketing materials for our consumer, merchant, and brand audiences. We turn both strategic ideas and specific requests into fully produced pieces that are on brief and on brand.

About the job:

You'll join Upside's central content and design squad, working directly with the Growth Marketing Team, Creative Strategists, and Graphic Designers to conceptualize, produce, and deliver consumer marketing campaigns and experiments to get more people to use the app more often.

With business and user goals in mind, you’ll work alongside consumer growth and design teams to come up with brilliant creative concepts, add copywriting and direction, produce creative content, and then iterate based on results. We’re small and growing quickly, so we’re looking for someone who is meticulous both in their organizational skills, and is willing to learn and take on new challenges. We’re searching for the rare individual who encompasses the wide range of skills of today’s top creative producers and marketers:

  • A creative storyteller who can go from idea to creative brief to storyboard to final product
  • A design-minded collaborator who can partner with design to produce content that is on brief and on brand
  • An excellent copywriter with the ability to tailor voice and tone per various consumer needs
  • Results-oriented and curious about what how people react to and engage with creative in order to drive even greater impact
  • Comfortable with experimentation and making decisions based on their outcomes
  • Digitally sophisticated and able to work across numerous software platforms
  • High attention to detail
  • Team player who loves collaborating with others

What you’ll do:

Produce creative that enables Upside’s growth:

  • Work with our consumer growth marketing and product team, supporting experiments to improve acquisition and retention across channels including digital ads, app stores, email, push, and in-app
  • Translate ideas, business goals, and creative briefs into creative campaigns by concepting, writing copy, producing mocks, and then partnering with design to produce  experiments and campaigns

Execute on a content calendar to drive user conversion and retention through improved user engagement:

  • Synthesize learnings from user research into ideas that address user pain points and enhance things they love
  • Understand the user lifecycle and knowledge gaps and create content that reinforces Upside’s value
  • Experiment to learn how language and creative impacts user behavior and use that knowledge to optimize campaigns
  • Experiment and identify appropriate cadence and channels for comm

Uplevel our consumer creative:

  • Follow and help evolve our creative best practices 
  • Keep team abreast of marketing, design, and deliverability best practices and competitive trends among leading consumer apps
  • Build campaigns and templates while considering how different approaches and tools will impact the end-user experience

What you need:

  • 2-3 years of consumer marketing experience, including copywriting, content creation, and campaign management
  • Experience building email, push, and in-app notification campaigns to drive business results
  • Design-minded with a desire to drive the creative process and a solid understanding of layout principles and how to communicate effectively
  • Ability to quickly create high quality, consumer-friendly content for use across properties
  • Comfortable in a test and learn environment: interpreting results of campaigns and experiments, developing hypotheses for how they could be better, coming up with big ideas that test those hypotheses, and building off test results to best connect with our users and merchants
  • Ability to empathize with our users and consider the user journey and other contact points when building and modifying marketing campaigns
  • Experience with Iterable, Hubspot, or similar marketing tools is a plus
  • Above all else, a constant desire for learning and self-improvement!
