The Fiction team for HarperCollins Focus and HarperCollins Christian Publishing prides itself on strong author relationships, award-winning content, bestselling books, and a cohesive team environment and is currently seeking a Marketing Associate. The Fiction team manages Thomas Nelson, Zondervan, and Harper Muse imprints and is proud to publish both Christian and general-market titles by bestselling authors such as Patti Callahan Henry, Charles Martin, Colleen Coble, Lauren Denton, Terri Blackstock, Angela Jackson-Brown, Sean Dietrich, and many others.

The Marketing Associate provides marketing and content support for the Fiction Marketing team and roster of authors.

Responsibilities

  • Assist marketers with the creation of marketing plans
  • Create content for and manage organic social media
  • Perform community management for paid ads and organic social media (monitor and respond to comments); manage social media messages
  • Create and manage promotions on BookBub, Goodreads, and Net Galley
  • Work in industry systems, such as Edelweiss, to add and update book and marketing data
  • Organize and manage sample mailings and letters
  • Submit monthly promotional recommendations and corporate communication submissions
  • Organize and package book assets (graphics, video, and content) to share with authors as well as store in our online asset management platforms
  • Work with team members, operations, and authors to organize 2-3 author events (in-person and/or virtual) annually
  • Manage our virtual book review community and online author groups; assist with book clubs and reader subscription groups
  • Work with design teams to create promotional kits for books as well as marketing materials for promotions and tours
  • Perform other support functions of the department as needed, such as process invoices, monitor department email inboxes, shoot lifestyle photos of books, assist with sales conference videos and materials, help with events/shows, etc.



Qualifications

Knowledge/Work Experience: 0-2 years marketing experience.

Education: Bachelor's degree in advertising, marketing, communications, digital communications, or related discipline.

Industry Knowledge: Experience in marketing, agency or in-house, preferred. Interest in and basic understanding of commercial fiction and book publishing preferred but not required.

Skills:

  • Strong organizational, time management skills with attention to detail, and ability to set priorities
  • Experience with creating content for and managing organic social media on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest (required)
  • Proficiency with Canva, InDesign, Photoshop, and other Adobe Creative Suite applications (preferred)
  • Must be able to work independently based on the outlined processes and procedures of our department
  • Strong communication skills to articulate needs, provide status updates, and work with cross-functional teams
  • Willingness to help and solve problems
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships with colleagues and vendors
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
  • Premier Pro, or other video editing and creation software, experience is a plus but not required
