OVERVIEW

We’re looking for a Manager of Shopper Engagement & Communications to join our growing Communications team. Our mission is to create a world where everyone has access to the food they love and more time to enjoy it together, and we’re looking for exceptionally talented Communications team members to help support the business. The Manager of Shopper Engagement & Communications will report to the Senior Manager of Shopper Engagement & Communications, as a part of the Shopper Engagement & Policy Communications practice within the Communications team.\

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of previous experience in tech, product, and/or corporate communications. This person will ideally be based in the Bay Area. 

ABOUT THE JOB

  • Today, we have more 500,000 dedicated shoppers interacting with our customers and serving as household heroes for families across North America. 
  • Our belief is that through proactive communications and an empathetic approach, a positive, thoughtful, and consistent dialogue with this important community will help us deliver better products for our customers.
  • Over the last three years, we have taken a more holistic approach to our communications strategy with our shopper community. 
  • By partnering with cross-functional teams across the organization including product, engineering, operations, and legal teams, we have been more deliberate, inclusive and proactive in our communication strategy.
  • This work is a careful balance of proactive communications (product PR, shopper experience, internal communications) as well as reactive and issues management communications. 
  • This role will report to the Senior Manager of Shopper Engagement & Communications, who currently manages the day-to-day work on shopper engagement and product comms.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Act as PR business partner to the operations, product, engineering, and legal teams
  • Collaborate with internal teams to drive successful announcements and program launches
  • Drive proactive coverage for Instacart’s shopper initiatives 
  • Collect and synthesize shopper feedback (in coordination with cross-functional teams)  
  • Be a source of expertise for our product and engineering teams when designing new shopper features, and proactively advocate to these teams for critical improvements
  • Create and execute on a cohesive, holistic editorial calendar for our shopper blog
  • Engage in ongoing dialogue with current and future shoppers via all appropriate channels (web, social, town halls, phone, etc.)
  • Develop communications strategy for engagement-enhancing programs for shoppers 
  • Champion shopper culture internally
  • Support proactive thought leadership to elevate leaders across the shopper product and engineering teams

ABOUT YOU

  • 5+ years of relevant communications experience, ideally with a focus on tech and/or product communications.  
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, English, or a related field. 
  • A mixture of prior in-house and agency experience preferred.
  • Advanced writing and language skills.
  • This position is ideally based in San Francisco, CA.
