What Brand Strategy & Management contributes to Cardinal Health

Brand Strategy and Management is responsible for leading efforts focused on increasing the equity of

Cardinal Health brands. This includes defining and implementing brand strategy, providing brand-related consultation, managing enterprise-wide brand assets and resources, and educating employees and external partners to ensure maximum brand consistency.

A successful candidate will:
  • Demonstrate solid understanding of brand strategy and principles of brand and marketing management
  • Demonstrate experience working within established brand identity systems
  • Counsel and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to execute brand strategies and plans that meet both company and business objectives
  • Prioritize tasks and projects according to business needs and tight deadlines
  • Collaborate effectively to ensure that all brand-related efforts support the Cardinal Health company brand strategy
  • Possess strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills and able to clearly communicate and defend ideas
  • Serve as a thought leader within the organization, partnering with teams across the company to provide clear decisions and guidance on brand needs and application

Accountabilities in this role

The Manager, Brand Strategy will provide leadership and decision making for the Brand team and management oversight for overall enterprise Brand activities, with a focus on the Pharmaceutical segment, including project management and execution of naming/trademark, responsibility for executing brand transitions and monitoring and assessing key competitor brand activity.
  • Naming and trademark strategy
  • Monitor, assess and report on key competitor brand activity
  • Serve as liaison between Marketing and Intellectual Property teams with respect to trademark matters
  • Define brand strategy for acquired company/brand portfolio
  • Lead the operationalization of brand strategies for acquired or transitioning brands within the Pharma segment.
  • Conduct internal brand education and socializes brand strategy to gain buy-in
  • Provide environmental branding solutions for Cardinal Health facilities
  • Lead Brand identity development, consultation and review
  • Manage the development, deployment and maintenance of the Cardinal Health Brand Style Guide and related assets
  • Ensure compliance for all internal and external brand strategies and tactics
  • Develop, implement and review relationships with preferred agency partners

  • Degree in Marketing, Business Administration or related area; graduate degree preferred; or equivalent experience
  • People management experience preferred
  • Minimum 7 years related business experience
  • Agency experience preferred
  • Self-directed, self-motivated, with a balanced and moderate professional disposition
  • Experience with digital marketing and / or eCommerce and creative services with an understanding of how these channels can be used to grow brands
  • Previous experience with both B2B to B2C market focus preferred
  • Experience working with consulting agencies to implement recommended deliverables
  • Experience establishing a brand vision / strategy
  • Ability to lead people through influence and build consensus
  • Proven success within a matrixed environment
  • Ability to anticipate and push change through the organization
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills (written and verbal) with demonstrated ability to persuasively present to internal and external partners
  • A Covid-19 vaccination is required in order to be employed in this position. This includes either:
    • 2 doses of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine
    • 1 dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine
