Head of Marketing
Chapter is using technology to re-invent the way that Americans transition into retirement, starting with Medicare. Our advisors help retirees navigate the maze of Medicare decisions, including plan selection, enrollment, and re-confirming coverage, and maximizing benefits.
We are looking for a Head of Marketing to lead our member acquisition, retention, engagement, and referral initiatives. This person should be a superlative omni-channel marketer with experience in performance marketing and quantitative approaches to improving customer life-time value. Ideally, this marketing leader will also spearhead our marketing for our enterprise partnership channels and support community and content efforts. In addition, we prefer a candidate with strong experience building on-boarding and adoption flows, having co-led or worked closely with product and engineering.
Our business is built on the trust our customers place in us. The goal of our marketing is to communicate how Chapter is the first Medicare Advisor that searches all plans and recommends the best-fitting coverage, even when Chapter doesn’t earn any revenue. Because Chapter places consumers’ interests above its own, we earn a tremendous amount of trust that is critical towards becoming the first point of call for Americans transitioning into retirement.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee marketing, across performance, product, content, lifecycle, and community marketing.
- Build successful campaigns across paid channels, content, partnership development, branding, and customer referral programs.
- Work with our team of licensed advisors to ensure a smooth hand-off of leads and optimize conversion.
- Define key metrics to extend CLTV and compress blended CAC, establish procedures for tracking them, and build out processes for reporting and decision-making based on these metrics.
- Determine the resources the marketing organization needs to be successful and work closely with the company’s co-founders and other team leads to ensure the team has them.
- Most importantly, build, empower, and lead a team to achieve these goals.
We’d like you to have
- A strong desire to improve the process of transitioning into retirement for millions of Americans. That mission is vital to everyone at Chapter. We’re looking for people who want to improve people's lives, not just sell insurance.
- Strong omni-channel experience, with 3-5 years leading campaigns across paid digital and offline campaigns.
- Experience building a high-performing marketing organization from the ground up in a B2C or B2B2C company with a highly complex or regulated product.
- A combination of quantitative and qualitative marketing abilities. You’re comfortable working with numbers but also make decisions via empathy for the consumer’s emotional experience at the point of discovery, awareness, and adoption.
- Expertise in performance marketing, ideally around lifecycle marketing as well. Some level of experience with Product and content marketing is also critical. Brand marketing experience is nice to have but not necessary.
- A firm grasp of marketing to an older customer base and working with Medicare or other insurance products is a plus.
Why We Exist
Every morning, 10,000 Americans wake up and begin their first day of retirement. Chapter is re-inventing the way that Americans transition into retirement, starting with Medicare. We are re-authoring the aging narrative by enabling Americans to age with purpose and security and to define their best chapter.
For most people, Medicare is boring, bureaucratic, and confusing. But it's tremendously important.
