Position Summary
Head of Industry Events for Influencer and Engagement Marketing role will lead a team of regional leaders and work closely with the broader Payments marketing leadership team, and communications team, along with client experience, product, field and internal/external partners to lead industry event marketing efforts spotlighting our payment solutions. Events include client seminars, client conferences, trade shows, client entertainment and internal meetings. This role is perfect for someone who is a strong leader and strong people leader, innovative, strategic, customer-focused and can drive change through relationships, see the forest and the trees and execute on a broader vision.
Based in the United States, this is a senior role with tremendous opportunity to deliver high-impact event based marketing communications programs by unifying our story, capitalizing on the innovation agenda and ensuring our regional treasury, trade and payments presence and capabilities are effectively positioned to support the continued growth of this business and drive brand perceptions.
The successful candidate will lead a global team to identify, develop, and deliver strategic messaging in the events channel, and execute go-to-market initiatives to help shift perception in the market, raise brand awareness, strengthen existing client relationships and win new business. Specifically, leading and developing an integrated events strategy (including work on client personas, target industry segments and competitor insights) to support global and regional client marketing campaigns, digital and social activities, thought leadership collateral and event content. The leadership role requires close engagement with executive-level stakeholders including Global Market Management, Product, Sales and Corporate Banking to influence, challenge, connect and collaborate. The ability to partner with the broader Payments Marketing, Corporate Events Team, Internal Communications and Media Relations teams across lines of business and regions is required.
Main Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute an integrated events annual marketing plan and budget for J.P. Morgan's Payments business, creating segment and region-specific messaging with a particular focus on innovation and priority industries
  • Lead our third party event efforts and partnerships globally, building strong relationships with our internal and external partners.
  • Work with Payments Marketing colleagues and subject matter experts to develop and roll out new messaging, product launches and thought leadership content that strengthens our positioning and highlights unique differentiators in our events channel.
  • Partner with colleagues from the Payments, CB and CIB Marketing & Communications teams and Event teams, and other areas of the firm to engage clients and show our expertise in digital and in-person channels.
  • Lead the development of robust event measurement plans in partnership with analytics to determine event marketing impact and effectiveness and report out to senior stakeholders (including brand awareness, media coverage, client service metrics, event attendance and longer-term ROI) to refine, enhance and evolve the message and engagement
  • Ensure all marketing programs are managed within budget and on time, optimize return on marketing investments, including agency/vendor relationships, and report on program performance


Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years marketing and event experience with proven track record of leading, developing, and delivering go-to-market programs
  • Demonstrated success as a strong people leader of geographically distributed teams
  • Extensive knowledge of marketing strategy and execution coupled with ability to apply the right mix depending on business objectives
  • Significant experience in developing and executing complex global or regional projects and navigating a matrix organization
  • Exceptional communication, influencing, negotiation and interpersonal skills as well as abilities to build collaborative relationships with business stakeholders and functional partners
  • Experience building and leading effective teams and passion for identifying and developing talent
  • Understanding of financial industry is a plus, preferably with knowledge of transaction banking and payments; experience in the fintech, digital or technology environment a bonus
  • Understanding of marketing analytics and effectiveness through social media and key performance indicators that drive success
  • Creative thinker, problem solver, agile mindset and comfortable with ambiguity
