Global Event Strategist

The Atlassian Experiential & Field Marketing team drives customer engagement with the Atlassian brand and its portfolio of products. The team coordinates with sales, marketing, product, operations and executive management departments to deliver Atlassian global event portfolio including strategic events and field events. The purpose of these events is to increase brand awareness, develop and advance the company's sales pipeline, and educate and empower attendees.
Atlassian is looking for a motivated, self-starter with an enthusiastic attitude who is ready to roll up their sleeves and develop event strategy for the Atlassian global event portfolio reporting to the Head of Global Event Strategy. The Global Event Strategist role will contribute to the event strategy and measurement functions for all global events at Atlassian, including partnering with contractors and third party agencies to help drive work forward. This individual will be responsible for managing and developing current and long-term portfolio strategies that align our events back to business initiatives, managing individual program strategies, driving a global content strategy plan, building executive level presentations and reporting, and managing measurement and metrics reporting globally. Candidates must possess excellent management, delegation, and project management skills to keep projects moving forward and execute deliverables on time, as well as a strategic mindset to ensure work is being done as efficiently as possible across the team.
To be successful, the Global Event Strategist must be a data-driven, results oriented strategist with strong knowledge of high-tech account-based marketing, demonstrate superior collaboration and project management skills, and be an incredibly organized, conscientious multitasker with excellent communication skills. Ability to travel onsite to events, with some weekend travel may be required .
Event & Content Strategy Responsibilities:
- Support the development of an event portfolio strategy that aligns event priorities to an integrated customer journey throughout the year
- Contribute to the design of program attendee journeys and blueprints for the event experience to enable successful downstream implementation
- Partner with other shared services teams including content ops, event tech and marcom to ensure all priorities and requirements are scoped into cross-functional work
- Prepare event concept presentations that help translate ideas into prototypes that enable communication with stakeholders to secure funding and buy-in
- Guide the team on event priorities ensuring all efforts align back to business initiatives and goals
- Concept, develop, design and support the successful implementation of engagement, content and marketing strategies for digital, in-person and hybrid events
- Establish and manage effective processes, meetings and milestones and regularly communicate deadlines and interdependencies
- Internally identify the right stakeholders to provide input for content direction, and collaborate with on content development and guide key stakeholders through the process and become their trusted partner
- Facilitate event content alignment across business groups including product marketing, brand, customer marketing, sales, and field orgs
- Collaborate and work with event agency counterparts to maximize value and output
Measurement & Metrics Responsibilities:
- Create measurement strategies and programs based on the results and outcomes identified for a specific event, family of events, or an entire portfolio of events
- Identify event metrics (benchmarks and targets) and key performance indicators, based on event industry and measurement best practices
- Develop and implement survey questionnaires and other event measurement tactics
- Create specifications for and manage development of event scorecards and dashboards, in partnership with the Atlassian Marketing Analytics team
- Conduct analysis to understand the key takeaways, results and other critical insights, prepare final reports communicating the impact of events on key areas of the business
- Conduct research to explore and apply event industry trends, innovations and challenges to event strategy recommendations

ON YOUR FIRST DAY, WE'LL EXPECT YOU TO HAVE:
- 5+ years of event operations or strategy experience (preferably in high tech)
- 2+ years developing data-driven strategy development for large scale, global events, preferably at a high-growth technology company
- Direct experience and ownership of producing various-sized events and budgets
- Project management expertise
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment managing multiple stakeholders and concurrent programs
- Resourceful, self-starter with a sense of urgency and strong work ethic
- Ability to work on multiple projects at once, set priorities, work independently, problem-solve, improvise and function as part of a team that must perform under pressure
- Cultivate strong relationships with key internal and external partners and display excellent communication skills with all stakeholders, including the ability to effectively delegate work across virtual teams and build strong peer relationships
- Capability to work independently and with minimal direction, while showing initiative and delivering results that will wow your peers and leaders
- A strategic process-driven approach to managing programs for scale
- Proven track record delivering against KPI's and OKR's
- Comfortable learning and using new software tools
- Accept changes with short notice and tolerate frequent interruptions
- Superb prioritization skills to individually detect and deliver the most important things first
- Excellent eye for detail
It's admired, but not required, if you have:
- Experience from both corporate and event agency (especially with event management and execution)
- Experience using Confluence, Jira, and Apple Keynote program
- A sense of humor at the 11th hour
