Description and Requirements

The Role
As a Fortune Global 500 company with US$50+ billion in revenue, Lenovo's vision is to become the leader in Intelligent Transformation through PCs, tablets, AR/VR, smart devices, infrastructure, and solutions and services that create the best user experience. We are looking for a talented event manager for our new Solutions and Services Group (SSG) to be a part of Lenovo's evolution into a world-leading technology solutions company.
The role will be based in the United States (Raleigh/Durham, NC area preferred), and will collaborate closely with SSG and global events and marketing teams around the world.
Specifically, the role will:

  • Serve as a key point of contact for all SSG events. These events will include large industry events (like the Consumer Electronics Show), Lenovo-owned events, and smaller industry and vertical events.
  • Collaborate with leaders across the organization to manage Lenovo events
  • Manage weekly updates, including event pre- and post-communications for key events
  • Track and monitor event-generated revenue and continuously optimize event performance and refinement
  • Manage a budget for event spending with the agency and in-house
  • Foster integration among cross-functional, global team members and agency partners
  • Monitor marketplace conditions, competitive information and maintain a high level of expertise within the event marketing space, keeping abreast of trends and innovations
  • Manage processes and alliance partnership relationships
  • Create annual event marketing plans to reach the target audiences
  • Develop marketing communications and collateral to support various events throughout the organization
  • Interface with Lenovo sales and marketing teams across worldwide marketing team and other business groups
  • Work cross-functionally to develop presentation content and supporting collateral for various events

The successful candidate must:

  • Be ORGANIZED: Have strong project management skills in multitasking; able to juggle multiple priorities and take end-to-end ownership of projects
  • Be STRATEGIC: Be able to make strategic, prudent decisions (at times without full information)
  • Be INFLUENTIAL: Be able to course-correct and influence stakeholders in a fast-paced environment against fast-breaking developments and timelines
  • Be HARDWORKING: Be a strategic thinker as well as a practical doer, comfortable getting things done despite limited resources
  • Be CURIOUS: Constantly challenge the status quo; be entrepreneurial in pursuing new communications ideas and better ways of storytelling - with a sharp eye for great creative and detail
  • BE CONFIDENT: Articulate, confident and tactful in interacting with marketing peers and leadersihp
  • Be FLEXIBLE: Role will occasionally require some travel and non-standard meeting times
  • Be GLOBAL: Be respectful and effective in communicating across cultures, and flexible in accommodating teams across different time zones
  • Be ACCOUNTABLE: Develop, measure and report on metrics that inform strategy and track performance.


Position Requirements

  • 5 - 7 years Marketing/Event Planning experience
  • 3 - 5 years Marketing Communications experience
  • Strong interpersonal abilities to work with all marketing disciplines and teams as well as external vendors
  • Ability to influence stakeholders within a matrixed organization through relationship building and strong presence
  • Passion for executing programs of the highest quality possible
  • Experience working in an account management role at a media/creative agency (or overseeing an agency relationship from client side)
  • Innovative approach to managing events and marketing communications to develop events that create buzz and engage Lenovo partners and customers
  • Experience working with sales reps to drive marketing programs
  • Strong organizational experience and attention to detail to flawlessly manage numerous events each quarter
  • Strong project/budget management skills
  • Hardware background preferred
  • Travel as needed
