Director of Marketing
Full-Time Position
We are looking for our next Director of Marketing to join our VStar Marketing team. The main objective of this role is to deliver innovative marketing campaign strategies that support and optimize maximum revenue management across all engagement and touring properties. The position will oversee a diverse team of Marketing & Sales Managers, Digital Media Experts and the Communications and PR teams. The position serves as the key Marketing and Communications liaison with external partners, clients, sponsors and vendors. The Director of Marketing serves and supports both VStar and other Affiliate Division touring properties.
The Director of Marketing will have the opportunity to:
- Deliver innovative marketing campaign strategies that support and optimize revenue management sales curves and engagement life cycle models;
- Work in collaboration with Revenue Management team for forecast and budgeting sessions for engagement revenues that align with VStar’s business unit’s overall budget initiatives and financial strategy plans for each season and fiscal year;
- Track revenues and report current forecast to budget on a regular schedule to internal and external management teams and IP partners;
- Oversee department’s Marketing Managers to ensure proper protocol and SOP parameters are followed for adherence to Business unit’s initiatives and best practice standards;
- Effectively leverage internal, outsourced, and IP Partner cross-functional teams and resources, to maximize opportunities for mutually beneficial marketing partnerships to optimize market engagement revenues;
- Oversee and coordinate publicity and marketing campaigns across business unit work centers with a bird’s eye view to ensure fidelity to brand standards; and maximize local, regional, and national opportunities to promote both specific touring shows and VStar brand equity;
- Pursue additional trades with secondary media to supplement paid advertising/promotion schedules.
- Oversee group sales campaigns, Groupon, or other secondary ticketing relationships to leverage opportunities across IP brands and all show engagements;
- Research pursue and secure cash and promotional sponsors to leverage across regional and national engagement initiatives. Execute sponsorship agreements and reconcile necessary back-up;
- Coordinate closely with VStar and IP Partner Social Media and Digital Marketing teams to build engagement, awareness, conversion, and derive audience insights;
- Ensure brand standard adherence for domestic and international tours;
- Oversee marketing asset development for all new show development projects;
- Manage international partners marketing campaigns and creative asset use to ensure brand standards are met;
- Work with sponsors, partners and internal team to support execution on behalf of sponsors;
- Project manage and support special initiatives such as sponsorship execution or joint events with IP partners;
- Drive new product pipeline through project/timeline management to deliver marketing strategies and assets needed for successfully launching new touring show as well as future touring partnerships;
- Maintain an understanding of the contractual agreements for each engagement, such as rental vs. co-pro contracts, box office charges, facilities fees, etc. Consult with Booking Department as needed;
- Present marketing opportunities or hurdles for future changes to events such as App Development, added production elements, merchandise, ticketing, etc.;
- Supervise Media Buyers and Marketing Managers assigning markets, training, and mentoring new hires as well as developing teamwork and community;
- Compose job descriptions and requirements for Marketing Team additions. Interview and hire Media Buyers, Marketing Managers, Assistants and Interns. Continue to evaluate and propose strategies for optimal department org structure and growth plans;
- Attend as marketing representative internal meetings and executive retreats;
- Act as promotional/marketing guide for sponsorship, philanthropic, or other company wide partnerships that may arise;
- Complete other job-related duties as assigned.
What does it take for this role? The following hard skills are the basics of what’s needed to be successful in this position:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent work experience;
- At least ten years of previous work experience in entertainment marketing; live touring entertainment experience; venue and/or box office management; live event marketing; Ticketmaster experience a plus;
- Agency experience desirable but not required;
- Functional knowledge of Digital marketing and social media required;
- Ability to build and maintain relationships; confident leadership presence comfortable working with and building winning relationships with critical strategic partners;
- Superior written and verbal communications skills;
- Leadership presence and confidence working with senior management and corporate partners;
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a highly professional environment;
- Excellent creative problem-solving skills with a track record for smart, on-the-fly troubleshooting and collaborative resolution;
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken a must; Spanish language or other language skills a big plus but not required;
- Experience with multi-location business (touring, retail etc.) and/or hyperlocal activation extremely valuable;
- High energy, “yes-and,” team player attitude;
- Sense of curiosity and a hunger to discover and understand emerging trends in marketing and children’s entertainment;
- Where permitted by applicable law, must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine by date of hire to be considered for employment;
- Verification of the right to work in the United States for VStar Entertainment Group, as demonstrated by completion of the Form I-9 upon hire and the submission of acceptable documentation (as noted on the Form I-9) verifying one’s identity and work authorization.
